“I literally have received compliment after compliment. People have asked, ‘Who is Gina? Does she work here?’ and I tell them, ‘Nope, she’s a consultant,’ and they’re like, ‘She really knows your business.’” - Stacy Cheuvront, CPO at Winshuttle (at the time) THE HIRING NEED Winshuttle was in the process of building out a sales team and engaged PSP to source six initial roles across the country. Upon successfully completing this project, we were invited to assist with recruiting for other areas of the company. Being mindful of hiring costs, PSP proposed a more fiscally responsible project structure. Fractional recruiting – a relatively new recruiting trend – brings different talent into play for companies. Fractional employment originated with the hiring of academic professors who were able to offer their expertise part-time for companies. It has expanded to include executives, TA, and other job descriptions. Fractional positions fall somewhere between advising and being an interim executive, and are increasing in popularity, especially among millennials. Fractional recruiters are a good solution for a segment of companies looking to hire. The upside of fractional recruiting is that a company doesn’t have to fund a full, in-house talent acquisition team, yet they still have access to knowledgeable people when they need to hire a new executive. But what are the possible pitfalls, and what should you be looking for in a successful fractional recruiter? We discuss this and more on the Hire Thoughts blog: https://lnkd.in/g8BTEDcT . #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #recruitment #nowhiring #employment #career #recruiting #work #hr #careers #hiringnow #humanresources #business #staffing #interview #vacancy #recruiter

“...We were very pleased with the caliber and background of our candidate pool which resulted in a fantastic hire! Thank you so much for your support on this critical hire!” Dana Montanari, CPO at PCC Community Markets THE HIRING NEED: PCC is a beloved brand in Washington, making the VP of Marketing role highly coveted in the Pacific Northwest. While it was an honor to partner with such a recognizable company, PSP needed to communicate clearly the specific skills and cultural fit required for this role, given the intense interest. Additionally, sourcing locally was essential to ensure candidates had a deep understanding of the CPG, grocery, and retail landscape... "...They are good at what they do and fun to work with, and I look forward to partnering with Gina and Sarah again as we grow." - Sam Wright, COO My Green Lab THE HIRING NEED: MGL was launching a new confidential business unit and needed to source their first Chief Revenue Officer. While their main business model was exciting and on the rise, we had to share the company’s story without revealing any sensitive information about internal changes. As an early-stage company, MGL also required a fiscally responsible approach, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy run rate... There’s a common myth in recruiting that not disclosing the compensation package gives the hiring party the higher ground... ...and today we're talking about it on the Hire Thoughts blog! https://lnkd.in/gqhUeAjD What role has compensation played in your own job history? . #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #recruitment #nowhiring #employment #career #recruiting #work #hr #careers #hiringnow #humanresources #business #staffing #interview #vacancy #recruiter

We’re all used to remote teams by now. Building real connection is still a challenge. This got us to pondering the whole question of just how organizations have been doing in building some sense of cohesion within teams whose members never – or seldom – actually meet in person. Unlike traditional work teams, remote teams don’t have physical spaces where folks might drop by each other’s offices, bump into each other in the hallway, or pull each other aside for an impromptu coffee chat. The members of remote teams can’t just go grab a spontaneous drink after work, and they don’t have the kind of daily contact that would enable them to read each other’s moods or really learn about each other’s daily lives. All of these small touchpoints are vital to interpersonal connection within a workplace, and remote teams don’t have them. Connection and cohesion still matter. It’s simply harder to foster and sustain them with remote teams. But it’s not impossible. From the earliest days of the COVID pandemic, smart people across the business world have been identifying this problem, and offering ways to address it. Do you have approaches of your own that have helped foster cohesion among remote teams? By all means do let us know, and we’ll pass along as many good suggestions as we can! #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #recruitment #nowhiring #employment #career #recruiting #work #hr #careers #hiringnow #humanresources #business #staffing #interview #vacancy #recruiter

Hiring for “beginner’s mind”? This concept was made famous in the West by Zen master Shunryu Suzuki, who wrote, “In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.” This ties into themes we’ve been discussing on social media, our blog, and our newsletter: namely generational differences in the workforce and the related challenge of navigating the concepts of “overqualified” and “underqualified” applicants. This whole idea – that traditionally valued qualities like “skill” and “qualification” and “expertise” can get in the way of the attainment of true success – has been explored by a lot of smart business commentators. What are your thoughts on when the "beginner's mind" is an asset? #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #recruitment #nowhiring #employment #career #recruiting #work #hr #careers #hiringnow #humanresources #business #staffing #interview #vacancy #recruiter

Are you dreading having one or the other of these terms used against you? Check out our most recent post on "underqualified/overqualified"
Chief Executive Officer, PS Partners passionate about Recruiting| Business Strategy | Compensation Trends | Networking | |Mentoring | Cultural Development
The “underqualified / overqualified” bind in a multigenerational workplace... As we mentioned in our last two posts, the American workplace has reached an unprecedented level of age diversity, with as many as five distinct generations working side by side. This means, among other things, that people are entering and leaving their jobs at widely differing stages of their career and lifespan. For example, it’s not at all uncommon for a tech whiz in their early 20s to be seeking a senior managerial position, while a physically and mentally robust 70-something with deep work experience may be looking to try on a new mid-level role. All of this has added new layers of complexity to what has become one of the most vexed issues in hiring – namely, the dilemma of the “underqualified” or “overqualified” applicant. In today's Higher Thoughts post, we discuss navigating this issue: https://lnkd.in/gGfm76Sa #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #recruitment #nowhiring #employment #career #recruiting #work #hr #careers #hiringnow #humanresources #business #staffing #interview #vacancy #recruiter
