A nonprofit committed to funding breakthrough research and accelerating new cures for pediatric cancers
About us
Since 1982, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation has been chasing one ambitious goal: to make it possible for all children facing childhood cancer to beat their disease and realize their full potential. We will achieve this by powering cures where none exists and giving rise to less toxic regimens that have fewer side effects. While the challenge is huge, we are both optimistic and determined. We have raised and invested more than $57 million in pediatric cancer research that has contributed to groundbreaking advances in treatment — and we are just getting started. In 2022, we turned 40 years young, and we plan to use our insights, experience, and leadership to uncover promising new directions and drive momentum in pediatric cancer research. We know that meaningful progress relies on investing in promising research that advances the learning cycle and yields new insights. We know, too, that identifying breakthroughs means championing and nurturing the researchers who are moving science forward every day. By working together — with the research community, our partners and kind-hearted supporters — we will give flight to the breakthroughs that will help transform pediatric cancer care. Please consider how you or your organization can join us in the fight to save a child's life. Make an investment today through the gift of sponsorship, employee giving, volunteering, donor-advised gifts, or a tax-deductible donation - all of these ways of giving will go directly to improve the care, quality of life, and survival rates of children with cancer.

NEW Profectus Blog! Researchers at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago have introduced a groundbreaking development - a generalized cancer vaccine that could significantly improve immunotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other blood cancers. By targeting unique features of tumor cells, this approach has shown promise in boosting survival rates when paired with chemotherapy. 🔬🧬 AML, one of the most aggressive childhood cancers, has proven resistant to immunotherapy. With survival rates at just 55-70%, the need for new treatment options is urgent. This innovative vaccine could be a game-changer for AML patients. For the past 17 years, John and Karen Vallely have stood alongside UCLA and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation to support life-saving research at UCLA MATTEL CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL through the Dribble for Victory Over Cancer, all in memory of their daughter Erin. Their tireless dedication has raised over $2 million to date to help achieve victory over childhood cancer.🎗️ A highlight of this incredible event is the presentation of the Erin Vallely Courage Award, established to honor individuals who devote their lives to building a brighter future for children and families impacted by this devastating disease. This year, we are proud to announce that our very own Jeri B Wilson will receive this prestigious award. Over the past 14 years at our Foundation, Jeri has made a lasting impact in the fight against pediatric cancer, championing essential research, providing access to vital resources and offering support for countless families. 💛 You can join us for this incredibly special day for our community in Southern California on October 6, 2024, beginning at 8:30 AM. Our incredible partners at Fxck Cancer are helping us drive life-saving research while supporting children and families facing childhood cancer. Through our powerful partnership, we've joined forces in their Dying 2 Live Dreams program - a wish-granting initiative that empowers children and adults to make their dreams come true. We’re committed to breaking the notion that cancer puts life on hold, and through this program, we’ve created countless unforgettable memories for families across the United States, including Talon’s story. 🎗️ At just 16, Talon was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the middle of a promising baseball career as a lefty pitcher. We were honored to give him a VIP experience at Fenway Park, complete with field access to batting practice and prime seats along the third baseline. That day, he confidently told us, “I’m going to play on this field one day.” Today, Talon is in remission and committed to Vanderbilt University, where he’ll compete as a Division I athlete - well on his way to making that dream a reality. ⚾️ 💛 This September, Fxck Cancer is selling their Go Gold merch, with 100% of sales benefiting our Foundation. Your support not only helps fund groundbreaking research but also keeps this incredible program alive, bringing joy and lifelong memories to pediatric oncology families across the country.
