Everyone, please congratulate our October Employees of the Month! Shout-out to Bo Flowers he is always going above and beyond to help with any task. A perfect example of this was his dedication to PDRTA's Boo Bus event. Not only did he help with everything asked of him, but he also jumped in with prep, setup, and stayed late to help clean up. Bo truly exemplifies what it means to be a team player, and his hard work and selflessness deserve recognition! Shout-out to Terry Bullard she is always ready to help, go wherever needed and bring a positive attitude. She's dependable, flexible and a true team player. We're lucky to have you on the PDRTA team!

About us
Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority was officially formed in June 1974 as the first RTA in the state of South Carolina. In August 1976, PDRTA began operations serving the six county Pee Dee regions of Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, and Marlboro Counties. PDRTA's first customers in 1976 were a small group of people enrolled in the CETA (currently Workforce Investment) federal job training program. In 1988, PDRTA began transporting inland county residents to the Grand Strand for job opportunities. That tradition continued for over 30 years, with PDRTA being actively involved in the economic development of our region by transporting hundreds to work each day, either on our fixed route system, the Florence Transit system, or via demand-response/paratransit services. In the Spring of 2013 PDRTA was forced to end the Medicaid contract with the private broker. The costs associated with performing the service was much more than the revenue generated, and because of this PDRTA had to make many several tough decisions. The loss of Medicaid resulted in a 70% reduction in Operational and Administrative staff. PDRTA now offers fixed route service in Darlington, Florence, Lake City and Marion SC. All routes with the exception of Florence are considered Deviated Fixed Routes. PDRTA is the oldest RTA in South Carolina. PDRTA is self-managed, allowing it to directly oversee its business with the highest degree of integrity and efficiency.

Today, some of our PDRTA team volunteered at Help 4 Kids, where we delivered 3,182 cans of Vienna sausage that we collected over the last two months!! Thanks to this amazing organization and their efficient assembly line, we also spent an hour and packed enough meal bags to feed 300 kids in our community!! Help 4 Kids is a true Florence hero! Inspired by a Bible study in 2013, Help 4 Kids has blossomed into a community lifeline and is a testament to the power of community. Hearing stories of the kids who benefit from their program was incredibly touching. Some of our PDRTA women attended the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce Women in Commerce Luncheon yesterday. Julie Janson, executive vice president and chief executive officer for Duke Energy Carolinas, shared her perspective on being a woman leader. Julie's advice on the importance of kindness and self-value resonated strongly with our PDRTA team. This message is a powerful reminder of the impact that compassion and self-respect can have in both our professional and personal lives. #BeKind #SelfValue #GreaterFlorenceChamber #WomenInLeadership #PDRTA

Everyone, congratulate our June Employees of the Month Rolando Rosado and Rondalyn McLeod!🎉🎉 Rolando has been a bus driver for many years, bringing his expertise from New Jersey to PDRTA since May 2024.
