The Future of Leadership: Are You Leading Like a Shark 🦈 or a Dolphin 🐬? Several weeks back, I had the pleasure of meeting with a really cool, fun, dynamic change agent and leader in the private equity space while I was in New York 🌆. We talked about his progression and work in his career and his own experience with an incredible executive and transformational coach 🤝. I learned about him and how he really leans into being more of a dolphin 🐬 rather than a shark 🦈 in business. We had a lot of laughs 😂, and one of the most genuine characteristics of this leader was that he was present, authentic, and truly himself 🙌. Here’s a little framework of what we discussed: The Future of Leadership: Are You Leading Like a Shark 🦈 or a Dolphin 🐬? In the world of business, many leaders embody the traits of two very different creatures: the shark and the dolphin. Each represents a distinct approach to leadership, work, and relationships. The question is: which one are you? 🤔 Sharks 🦈 have long been admired for their fierce determination, their ability to dominate the seas 🌊, and their single-minded focus. They are powerful, competitive, and often feared 😠. In business, leaders who emulate the shark approach are driven by a desire to outperform, outmaneuver, and outlast 🚀. But while sharks may be successful in the short term, their approach often leads to isolation, conflict, and burnout 😤. On the other hand, dolphins 🐬 are known for their intelligence, emotional awareness 💡, and collaborative nature 🤗. They lead with balance, combining strength 💪 with playfulness 😄, intelligence 🧠 with intuition, and independence with cooperation. Dolphins understand that success doesn’t come from dominating others but from working in harmony 🎶 and uplifting the group 👏. The future of leadership is changing 🌀. It’s no longer about being the strongest or the loudest—it’s about being the most balanced ⚖️, present, and human ❤️. Are you ready to leave behind the shark mentality 🦈 and embrace the dolphin way of leadership 🐬? How will you choose to lead in this new era—like a shark or a dolphin? Let’s embrace a leadership style that celebrates both strength and compassion 🌟, where we lead not just with power, but with purpose 🎯.

Are You an Illuminator or a Diminisher? 💡 Where are you in your energy and work this week? In every workplace or within team dynamics, we as humans have a choice in how we show up. The way we show up as well as the ways others show up can be easily catagorized into two different buckets as an illuminator or a diminisher. ✨ Illuminators lift others up, bring clarity, and foster collaboration. They empower colleagues to shine brighter, creating environments where innovation, creativity, and growth thrive. These are the people who listen, encourage, and amplify the talents of those around them. 💼 Diminishers, on the other hand, may—consciously or unconsciously—drain energy from the room. They might hoard credit, dismiss new ideas, or undervalue the contributions of others. Their presence can create an environment of competition and discouragement, dimming the potential of those they lead. As leaders, mentors, and peers, we must ask ourselves each day: How am I showing up? Am I creating space for others to excel, or am I unknowingly holding them back? We all know these dynamics all very well when we are in meeting together as teams and people. Let’s choose to illuminate the path for those around us. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we lift each other up. 🌟 #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #GrowthMindset #TeamBuilding #Empowerment

In times of uncertainty, the strength of our communities is defined by the support we offer one another. Our thoughts and prayers are with our clients, friends, and everyone in Florida as they navigate the challenges ahead. With schools, offices, and airports closing, daily life has come to a halt for many. But even in the midst of the storm, we see the unwavering care and dedication of the service and healthcare workers who remain on the frontlines, caring for those who need it most. To the professionals showing up with courage and compassion—you are the embodiment of resilience. Your work goes far beyond duty; it brings hope, healing, and a sense of continuity when it’s needed most. Your commitment is not only seen, but deeply valued. This is the time to come together, to offer whatever support we can, from near and far. Florida, we stand with you.  Whether through prayers, donations, or lending a helping hand, let’s all do our part. #Community #Support #FloridaStrong #Gratitude #TogetherWeAreStronger

⭐ Grateful ⭐ Empowered ⭐ Energized ⭐ I can't help but to feel totally pumped and uplifted after attending the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association 25th Annual Conference. I was privileged to be in a shared space this week with so many amazing women that are trailblazers, disruptors, innovators, and empowering female leaders. It's these experiences that remind me the importance of building strong relationships and networks where we can support each other on our respective journeys- personally and professionally. 💪 Let's keep lifting as we rise 💪 #HBAAC24! #HBA #womensupportingwomen #Strongertogether #liftasweclimb Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association HBA NY Tri-State region Khushbu Nathani Annie Curti Juliet Hart Antra Ziedins-Gilbank Mercedes Araceli Tarlati Apexa shah Vicki (Guida) McColley Rithika Naik, MBA Shweta Jain

➡ 5 Tips for Successful Networking: 😃 Be normal, be you! (People see right through the inauthenticity) 🤐 Listen more than you speak and ask questions 🤝 Express your gratitude for their time 🕒 Be intentional about where you spend your time and what you attend. Don't forget that your time is valuable too! 👐 Offer value any way you can. Help others, offer advice, offer to make introductions, etc. There has to be reciprocity so connect the dots. #relationshipbuilding #networktogrow #collaborateandgrow #networkforsuccess

We often get asked this by clients: "What is your methodology to create change within an organization and increase organizational effectiveness?" ***Spoiler Alert: It's not "go buy them pizza and cake and then make sure to celebrate their birthdays when those come around" 🙄 🙄 🙄 It's somewhat akin to asking "How do you talk to and raise your children?" (Point being, there is no one size fits all and your have to tailor your approach to effectively communicate with each one of your children in different ways.) Organizations are no different. There is no one methodology that fits everyone and for those organizations that say they can pull a solution off the shelf and implement it everywhere, I'd say to that "prove it!" Because it's bogus. To answer the question, we spend an inordinate amount of time with teams and leaders to understand the gaps. We ask about them as humans. We care. We build trust. We actively listen and do the work. We ask for their input and feedback. We treat people how they want to be treated. We ask them to be willing to acknowledge failures from the past and be willing to learn from it. We ask them to get uncomfortable and to be vulnerable. And we work together as a team to come up with the strategy that will work best and create the greatest impact and fulfillment. We ask them to thoughtfully and intentionally invest in their people because that is the only way forward, when working with People Conduit. We use a number of methods and a more human-first and modern approach. Sure, those basic concepts that we are all familiar with probably were somewhat effective pre covid, pre digital era, pre AI, pre great resignation, but those methodologies in their purist form, are becoming dated. We tell our clients that the work is not done overnight but with the heart-centered and human outlook, sponsorship, and alignment, it's can be wildly successful. And fun! We get to know the organization (and perhaps all the skeletons in the closet) and then use an empathy driven and compassionate approach to formulate the plan. Then we roll up our sleeves and implement it alongside all the people that make up the organization or team. Brick by brick. #organizationaleffectiveness #teamintelligence #humancenteredworkplace #realchange #holisticleadership #connectionandcollaboration #empowermentinaction #purposefulleadership

As we wrap up the summer ☀️🍉 months and enjoy the time with our family and friends, I wanted to share a few things and reminders to myself and for you. *BE present with the people you love ❤️ *BE grateful for the time we have with each other. This season and life is a gift 🎁 *BE available 🕦to others and take time to hold space🗓️ and really listen to one another. I had 3 different exchanges today with executives that I work with that shared they are caring for sick children and parents. When consistent interactions or things like this happen, I can’t help but pause and think what message is there here for me and others. In family, business and life, cherish the people around you. This life is truly a gift. ✨ Below is a picture of my father in law visiting from Australia 🇦🇺 and Husband and son coming back from Fishing 🎣on Lake Michigan. ❤️ 3 generation’s together. #family #summer #chicago

Are you crystal clear on where you are headed? 🏅 Let me give you a sports analogy (and I played college golf so that's typically my default)... ⛳ (Insert image of someone putting) 🤪 Those that say "I'm just trying to aim for the cup and get the golf ball to drop in the hole" just aren't that clear 🤯 Duh....We all want to do that 🧐 Challenge yourself to go deeper and watch the ball in your head travel from the point of origin and into the cup ➡ Be very specific on where to aim. For example, "I'm aiming for the spot located an inch inside the left edge of the hole" -------------------------------- 😃 Your plan for your future and your career is no different. Get clear and very specific on how you want to show up in your life and where you want your career to head 👀 Visualize it, step by step ⭐ Create the detailed plan and then get to work on it! #mindsetmatters #intentionsetting #careerprogression #levelup #highperformanceleadership #organizationalenhancement #growtogether #careercoaching #mindsetcoaching #visualsuccess

Yes, it's true. Fun can be had while doing the hard things. Last week People Conduit facilitated a Leadership Offsite with a group of really cool people that were authentic, heart-centered, silly at times, and were hyper focused on ways to better support their teams. They were willing to roll up their sleeves, get real with one another, and embrace the challenges needed to experience true growth, as part of the collective. Oh, and we may have had some laughs throughout the retreat too. #growthmindsest #leadbyexample #leadbypurpose #leadershipandgrowth #Leaderswholearn #Innovativeleaders #funleaders #continuouslearning
