Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya is the largest birthing center in sub-Saharan Africa. These incredible nurses and midwives, including Christine Ogalla pictured here, alongside their team, support the delivery of about 50-60 babies a day. As a frame of reference, the average sized hospital in America generally delivers between 8-12 babies a day. They are on an improvement journey, one focus area is PPH; in 2024 to date 100% of patients has received a uterotonic after delivery. This is a remarkable achievement in a resource restricted environment. I, along with my PeriGen colleagues are honored to be welcomed to their facility as part of a group visit with representatives from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. And, to meet my nursing colleagues in Africa who share the passion of bringing quality, family centered care to birthing families. truly awed. #kkperigen

"Interpretation of EFM tracings was historically, and is still currently in many facilities, a human visual interpretation. Therefore, open to human subjectivity. In other words, different highly skilled, experienced clinicians in fetal monitoring may look at the same EFM tracing and have different interpretations. This brings variance into care. AI-driven technology brings an objective, automated, repeatable interpretation that mitigates the variances in human interpretation.
