I love this clip from Scott Galloway addressing heat stress with student-athletes. “Coaches [and athletic departments] set the tone. We set a tone and a culture that it’s ok to not be ok and speak up and know it’s not going to affect your playing time or perception from coaching staff. Especially in the state of Texas… coaches want to win. Winning is important. But you cant win without quality players who are healthy and can perform at their highest level.”

Overseeing 42 parks and eight facilities, Mark Kosbab faced a critical challenge: how do you protect an entire community from unpredictable weather without reliable monitoring systems? Mark has been in a parks and facilities management position for ten to fifteen years, so he’s tried a LOT of different weather monitoring systems, but many have been unreliable, leading to false alarms or missed threats. So when it came to the safety of the 42 parks and 35,000 residents in Elk Grove Village, IL, Mark KNEW he had to come to us for his weather alerting & monitoring solution. Here’s why he loves it so much: • Reliability: “Perry Weather is the most reliable system that I’ve ever used,” Mark said. It’s consistently accurate, unlike previous systems. • Site-Specific Monitoring: Each park has its own weather station, allowing for location-specific decision-making, instead of relying on generic weather conditions you would get from a phone app. • Real-Time Data and Forecasting: The app provides up-to-the-minute information, including lightning countdown timers. “Having Perry Weather completely takes severe weather out of my area of concern,” Mark concludes. “We’re getting real-time data based on this park or that event, wherever that might be.” Because of these reasons and Perry Weather’s dedication to nothing less than a perfect experience, The Elk Grove Parks District has been using Perry Weather now for over three years, and they’ve never looked back. Facing unreliable weather predictions that put visitor safety at risk, Scott M. Crowe, CPRE, Executive Director of Huntley Park District, made a game-changing switch to Perry Weather's real-time lightning detection system. Previously, Huntley Park District used a system called Thor Guard, which instead of detecting lightning, attempted to predict lightning by using sensor based equipment. This can lead to several issues: • Sensors require frequent maintenance and cleaning. • False alarms become a common occurrence. • Failure to alert during thunderstorms with active lightning strikes. With Perry Weather, Huntley Park District was able to put their concerns to rest because of these key features that Perry Weather offers: • Superior Accuracy: Perry Weather leverages the National Lightning Detection Agency (NLDN) operated by Vaisala, the premiere source for lightning data to provide the most accurate, real-time strike data. • Automated Siren and Mobile Alerts: When lightning is detected in the radius of a Huntley Park facility, sirens will sound and a strobe light will go off, quickly alerting residents to incoming severe weather. Additionally, Perry Weather will send push notifications to staff, providing real-time updates on weather conditions for each location. • Centralized Data Management: Perry Weather logs and stores all weather related data in one location, so people like Scott can have a birds eye view of all severe weather data in one place while also being able to refer back to older data to determine if policy revision is necessary based on historical trends. “To see from one location what’s going on at all 20+ of our facilities across our entire city – Perry Weather helps me and my department heads identify risks and be proactive to protect our people.” Check out their full customer story, located on the Perry Weather website and linked below in the comments to see the other ways Huntley Park District leverages the Perry Weather platform to ensure the safety of 14 parks, 5 facilities, and over 48,000 people.
