𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱? Once driven by voluntary initiatives like the UN Global Compact, led by founding director and illuminem Voice Georg Kell, corporate sustainability is now at a critical juncture. Businesses continually have to adapt to new complexities as political shifts, rising regulations, and rapid technological advancements reshape the landscape. 1️⃣ Rising regulations: Government-mandated sustainability regulations are surging, particularly in the EU. For companies, embracing sustainability data as essential as financial data is key to navigating this evolving regulatory environment 2️⃣ Geopolitical shifts: The resurgence of power politics and economic nationalism disrupt global rules. With new localization strategies emerging, businesses must adapt to fragmented markets 3️⃣ Technology's transformative role: From AI to renewable energy, technology is no longer just an advocacy tool but a core survival strategy for decarbonizing industries and enhancing productivity 💬 Can businesses maintain sustainability leadership amid shifting geopolitics and rising regulations? Share your thoughts! 📖 Read more from illuminem Voice Georg Kell's analysis on the changing corporate sustainability landscape here: https://lnkd.in/eckxT985 #sustainability #corporateresponsibility #decarbonization #sustainablebusiness #climateaction #illuminem

India and its Maritime Strategy “The Strait of Malacca is critical for India as well as for China, with almost 40 percent of India’s trade passing through this narrow waterway. India has access to and is helping upgrade the strategically located Indonesian island of Sabang, less than 300 miles from the Malacca Straits.” Interesting article of Aparna Pande via Geopolitical Intelligence Services #India #geopolitics

💧The deeper and more expansive cyberspace becomes, the greater the demand for potable water for its setup and operation. What we're seeing is the expansion of an enormous infrastructure for new digital technologies that is extremely water and energy-intensive, without considering the very real downsides in terms of climate impacts. In this context, the digital industry is also a water-intensive industry. The gap between water availability worldwide and demand is widening by 40 percent each year. And a significant driver of water demand is the rapid advancement in technology and the infrastructure needed for the Web3 digital ecosystem. It is an uncontrolled footprint and more problematic than carbon emissions. We could also say that it is the true Achilles' heel of the silicon world. I am grateful to Daniel Tremayne-Pitter, DARK MATTER and The Clouded Summit in London for the opportunity to talk about this topic and the research I have been working on.
We’re excited to announce Pablo José Gámez Cersosimo, International Researcher for United Nations Trade and Development, will be joining us live at The Clouded Summit. Pablo will be talking about the his long running research about the out-of-control water footprint of our digital ecosystem. Plus he will share his experience working on the UN Digital Economy Report '24 Register to secure your spot. https://lnkd.in/ehyjdS-q #UnitedNations #Digital #Technology

I’m being featured as part of Our Energy Future, a video series and social media campaign from Earthjustice. This project spotlights people from across the U.S. who are responding to the climate crisis and working toward a safer and more just future for all. A brighter future is possible if we transition away from fossil fuels. The decision is ours. https://lnkd.in/eVpH-gNF https://lnkd.in/eUmPrYzN]
