NEWS — On Maryland report card, more than 72% of PGCPS schools received among the three highest ratings of 3, 4 and 5-star, an increase from last year. Nearly 75% of schools saw gains in academic achievement , including in elementary and middle school math. And when compared to the state average, more of our schools gained a star from last year, while fewer schools lost a star.

NEWS: With a $25 million grant from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission, PGCPS is partnering with 18 organizations to expand student mental health and wellness resources alongside PGCPS counselors, psychologists, and social workers. Read More: https://lnkd.in/e4hpjMKQ

ICYMI: Students will have more access to mental health and wellness resources this school year thanks to a $25 million grant from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission! In partnership with 18 organizations, the district will strengthen behavioral health services to support students' emotional and academic success. These partner organizations will supplement PGCPS counselors, psychologists, and social workers, bridging gaps in support with a focus on crisis intervention, wellness education and greater access to professional care.

A distinguished leader in science and a Senior Project Manager at The Aerospace Corporation, Dr. Harris plays a critical role in protecting NASA and classified missions from physical and cybersecurity threats. From his early days as a NASA intern at age 15, Dr. Harris has made groundbreaking contributions. As Vice Chair of the PGCPS Board of Education, he advocates for early STEAM engagement and enhanced educational experiences for all scholars! #PGCPSProud

⭐️Meet the Honorees⭐️ The Excellence In Education Foundation for PGCPS is proud to honor Taylor Coleman at this year’s Hall of Fame Gala! A grad of Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, Taylor has dedicated her career to public health and patient advocacy. As CEO of The SheRose Foundation USA, she leads efforts to reduce health disparities for Black girls and women. Her contributions include COVID-19 vaccine distribution guidance, research on Lyme disease, and organizing the World Sjögren's Day Benefit Concert. #PGCPSProud

A fifth-generation Prince Georgian, Wallace has dedicated his life to public service and advocacy, improving disadvantaged communities through initiatives in education, housing, and financial aid. During his time on the PGCPS Board of Education, he led policies that addressed food insecurity, created community schools, and promoted educational equity. #PGCPSProud

As Founder and Senior Pastor of ZionChurch, he has grown the ministry to more than 12,000 regular attendees across 4 locations in the DC Metro area. Beyond the church, Battle serves as Chaplain for the Washington Wizards, provides executive coaching and hosts the popular radio show “Weekly Wisdom” on WPGC and other stations. #PGCPSProud

A Class of 1997 Suitland High School graduate, LaMont excelled in multiple sports, earning a scholarship to the University of Maryland, where he became the all-time leading rusher. After an impressive NFL career, LaMont has dedicated himself to mentoring youth and coaching, and is a proud member of both the University of Maryland and state of Maryland Halls of Fame. #PGCPSProud

A Potomac High School alumna, Dr. Goldson dedicated 32 years to PGCPS, rising from math teacher to CEO. She led the groundbreaking Blueprint Schools program and oversaw the construction of 17 new schools. Her leadership helped reverse pandemic-related learning loss, making a lasting impact on the district. Dr. Goldson continues to shape education having served as Vice President of the Maryland State Board of Education, and now President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Greater Washington! #PGCPSProud
