Unlike conventional methods that rely on water-based systems, the ENRG blanket is a technology that absorbs and releases thermal energy at a specific design temperature, offering greater efficiency and versatility. It does this by achieving increasing levels of energy performance to lower heating and cooling energy by 25–35%." "The project’s efficacy was evident during the hottest months of the year, where the ENRG blanket demonstrated a remarkable two-degree reduction in temperature, translating to significant energy savings. Not only do April showers bring May flowers, they also bring power outages. Storms were moving through Southeastern WI and during my doctor's appointment today we lost power, for about 75 minutes. About 30 minutes into the outage, the nurses started to pack up medicines from the office refrigerators and placing them in coolers with gel packs (while referring to instructions on how to pack out the cooler). A little later, at the pharmacy, one of the techs was refilling their refrigerators from an Igloo cooler that they use during power outages. It was a great practical reminder of two things: 1. The value of the BioPCM powered Apollo panel and the protection that it provides during power outages and refrigeration failures. 2. The quizzical looks you get from health care professionals when you ask questions about what they are doing with the medicines. If you haven't already, check out the study completed by the NHS and their partners. Very grateful to all participants and speakers at the NJIT Research Showcase and NAi-NJIT Forum on Advancing Materials Science and Enginerring Translation. It was a great event with a lot of excitement and collaborative synergy for research and innovation translation of advanced material science and engineering technologies addressing use-inspired applications and market needs for societal benefits and economic impact. The opening remarks by President Teik Lim on NJIT’s strategic vision of innovation nexus was exciting and inspiring. Distnguished Keynote talk by Dr Pradeep Fulay, NSF program director of the Accelerating Research Translation (ART) program at the Technology Innovations and Partnerships (TIP) was very visionary and insightful emphasizing on the NSF programs and resources available to support and enable translational innovation partnerships with pathways to commerclization towards making technology and economic impact in the society. The distinguished panel with leaders from Princeton University, Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Rechnology, NJIT, NJ Commission of Science, Innovation and Technology, and Phase Change Solutions (industry) shared their thoughts and agreed unanimously that university-industry-government partnerships need to work together to develop research, innovation and technology commercialization ecosystem to accelerate the innovation translation. Very proud of students for their panel presentations on exciting technology innovations with tremendous enthusiasm to take transformative leadership roles in our society.
