    It’s the beginning of September, and as we gear up for the pan-respiratory virus season, when patients need to understand flu, RSV and COVID vaccines, I am reminded of a 2021 paper I co-authored with Scott C. Ratzan MD, Eric Schneider, and Joseph Cacchione MD.  What we found was that many people who had not yet been vaccinated for COVID were not in fact vaccine hesitant. They were simply looking for access to vaccines in familiar, trusted, primary care settings. This is a key part of vaccine uptake. While vaccine distribution has expanded in recent years, and people are much more accustomed to getting vaccines at their local pharmacy, for many, the trusted relationship with their primary care provider makes vaccination more accessible and less daunting.  And while I’m aware that providers are increasingly stretched thin, this type of patient interaction can be made easier with digital tools like Phreesia’s that enable patients to access resources and schedule appointments on their own time.  Proud of the work we are doing to increase vaccine awareness and completion rates this season.
