Early detection is crucial against breast cancer. When caught early (in the localized stage), the 5-year survival rate is 99%. Thanks to recent insights, physicians are now more aware of the possibility of breast cancer occurring at younger ages. However, it's essential to continue spreading awareness and building knowledge. Are you at increased risk? Here are some steps that can help with early detection: • Self-Exams • Well-Woman Exam • Mammogram • Risk Assessment • Genetic Testing Join us in part 3 of our Breast Cancer Awareness series as Haley Kletke, MS, CGC emphasizes the importance of knowledge and asking questions in early detection. Let's work together to raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer.

When Haley Kletke, MS, CGC was in her early 20s, she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system. Her treatment plan included radiation therapy to her chest, which has increased her risk of developing breast cancer. As a woman under the age of 40 with a high risk for cancer recurrence, Haley has delved into a career as a Genetic Counselor with our parent laboratory Fulgent Genetics and a breast cancer awareness advocate with Tits Deep for BreastCancer. Watch part 2 of our 3-part series with Haley as Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues and learn more about the importance of regular screenings and self-exams. Breast cancer can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender. #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastCancer #BRCA #BreastCancerActionMonth #cancerawareness #breastcancersurvivor #fightcancer #pinkribbon #breastcancerwarrior #SusanGKomen #PictureWellness

It's World Heart Day! Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death globally, with more than 20.5 million people dying from conditions such as heart attack, stroke, and heart failure each year. By making small, sustainable changes to our lifestyle – what we eat, how we move, and how we manage stress – we can significantly reduce our risk of heart disease. Let's give our hearts a voice. Together, we can create a healthier future for ourselves and future generations. A huge thank you to our dedicated teams for raising awareness and promoting heart health for the third year. 👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Fulgent Genetics

September is Newborn Screening (#NBS) Awareness Month! Newborn screening helps identify babies who may be at a higher risk for a wide range of congenital conditions. This allows doctors to start crucial treatments as early as possible! Did you know this life-saving program has been around for 61 years? Every year, NBS helps detect conditions in over 12,500 babies. Early detection through NBS allows healthcare professionals to intervene, improving patient outcomes. Picture Genetics offers a comprehensive genetic test for newborns that can supplement state-standard NBS by analyzing more than 200 rare, actionable conditions. Check out the differences between NBS and Picture Newborn in our newest video! #2024NBS #NewbornScreeningAwareness #NewbornScreening #PictureGenetics

As #CancerSurvivorsMonth comes to a close, we'd like to honor the incredible strength and resilience of survivors and patients of all ages like Haley Kletke, MS, CGC, a Genetic Counselor with our parent laboratory (Fulgent Genetics). In 2024, nearly 2 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Detecting cancer early can lead to less extensive treatment, more treatment options, and improved chances of survival. The impact of cancer continues even after treatment ends -- survivors often experience ongoing challenges such as emotional distress, financial hardship, and physical hurdles that can last a lifetime. National Cancer Survivors Month serves as a source of hope and a reminder to raise awareness about the needs of survivors. It advocates for more resources, research, and survivor-friendly support to enhance their quality of life during and after cancer treatment. #NCSD #NationalCancerSurvivorMonth #NationalCancerSurvivorsDay #CancerSurvivorDay #CancerAwareness #CancerSurvivor #CancerSurvivors
