Climate change is impacting our health, threatening our well-being, deepening historical injustices, and shaking our economy. The question is: what can we as individuals do to make a difference? This year, one of the biggest actions we can take for a more sustainable future is to go out to the polls and vote." We're encouraging every member of our community to get out and vote for the planet this November! The first step? Making a plan to vote! Here's what to do: ➡️ Decide when and where you will vote - and put it on your calendar! The general election is on November 5th and early voting starts on October 17th. ➡️ Collect all the information you need on where to vote, sample ballots, and many other resources by going to the Forsyth County Board of Elections page (www.forsyth.cc/elections) and the NC State Board of Elections site (www.ncsbe.gov). ➡️ Double your impact by sharing with a friend! Climate policy is one the ballot this year! And, the future of many of the positive changes implemented by the Inflation Reduction Act is uncertain in this moment. Many candidates running for office at the federal level have expressed a desire to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act either partially or in full. If these candidates are elected, Americans could lose out on billions of dollars of funding that has been allocated to invest in clean energy, make solar and electric appliances more affordable for families, and more. It would also have a profound impact on our economy, as the IRA has already had widespread economic impact through deploying sizeable tax credits across industries to drive change, including energy, transportation, buildings, and agriculture. So what can we do? We can research our candidates to understand their stance on this historic climate bill and we can VOTE! Did you know that the renewable energy sector is employing over 8 million people in the US today? Or that many of those clean energy jobs are stationed right here in the Piedmont Triad? Some reasons for the rapid growth in green jobs include increased demand for solar energy installations, an uptick in electric vehicle purchases, and a a growing commitment to switching to green appliances. All of these trends can be attributed to the Biden-Harris Administration's Inflation Reduction Act, which provides incentives for all of these exciting green innovations, driving demand for these services way up in our community! The Piedmont Triad is home to so many companies doing this great work, like solar energy installation experts, electric vehicle battery manufacturers, electric school bus manufacturers, and more!
