Welcome to the Team, Dr. Joshua Rifkind! We are delighted to welcome Dr. Joshua Rifkind to Piedmont Cancer Institute! Starting September 30th, Dr. Rifkind will be seeing patients at our new Locust Grove location, bringing his exceptional expertise in medical oncology to our growing team. Dr. Rifkind is a board-certified medical oncologist with a distinguished background in treating all types of cancer. He completed his Clinical Fellowship in Hematology & Medical Oncology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he also served as an assistant professor of medicine. His outstanding work earned him recognition as one of New Hampshire’s Top Doctors and as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor during his tenure at Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers in Arizona. Dr. Rifkind received his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is dedicated to providing personalized health care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Rifkind enjoys staying active through squash, bicycling, running, baseball, and basketball, and he also has a passion for drawing, painting, and sculpture. We are excited to have Dr. Rifkind join us and are confident that his expertise and compassionate approach will greatly benefit our patients at the Locust Grove location. It's Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month. Located at the base of the throat, the thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland vital for regulating heart rate, body temperature, metabolism, and calcium levels. According to the American Association for Cancer Research, In 2024, an estimated 44,020 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with thyroid cancer, with 2,170 projected to lose their battle against the disease. Despite these numbers, the five-year relative survival rate stands at an encouraging 98.4 percent, highlighting the importance of early detection and awareness. #ThyroidCancer #Awareness
