We’d like to honor last week's #WorldEnvironmentDay with a spotlight on one of our projects that is a leader in sustainable design and practice. The Music City Center is an award-winning, LEED Gold Certified facility that not only held sustainability as a construction principle, but also integrates eco-conscious practices into its daily operations through energy conservation, water management, waste reduction, and a green roof. Caring for the world so Nashville can continue to be a choice destination for visitors of the world- nearly 300 events attracting 550,000 attendees a year. https://lnkd.in/gXrTDMej

Last week, CNU 32 kicked off with some roller skating and networking, and wrapped it up with an inspiring session on resident-led planning hosted by WeCollabSTL, Invest STL, and YARD & Company. This year did not disappoint! As a second timer, it felt like such a reunion. What a joy it was to reconnect with so many familiar faces Desiree' D. Powell, CNU-A Megan Reineccius and meet new ones. The conference was full of learning from changemakers and discovering innovative approaches to Restorative Urbanism. Excuse the picture quality- working on being a better documenter of experiences 😅 Special thanks to PILLARS for making this trip possible. It’s great working at a firm that supports your career goals. Already counting down the days to CNU 33! #CNU32 #Urbanism #NewUrbanism #RestorativeUrbanism

Our work on the Meharry Living and Learning Center was one of 11 projects honored at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Nashville District Council’s Excellence in Development Awards. Winners were selected due to “their demonstration of meeting market demands and addressing community needs specific to Nashville and Middle Tennessee.” Serving students of Meharry Medical College, the nation’s largest, private historically Black academic health sciences school, the Living and Learning Center, also known as Constellation Place, is the first new building in 10 years. This six-story facility offers 126 student housing units, classrooms, retail space, a business center, a fitness center, outdoor terraces, and a 99-space parking garage, making it a vital addition to Nashville’s vibrant and inclusive community. At Pillars, our "Days Away" program is a cornerstone of our core values: curiosity, creativity, and community. This initiative is much more than just time away from the desk—it's an invitation to step outside daily routines and immerse ourselves in diverse experiences that fuel personal and professional growth. Throughout the past year, our team members have embarked on journeys across the United States and abroad. Each destination has offered unique opportunities to delve into subjects that pique individual interests and resonate with our mission at Pillars. For instance, some explored national housing reform, while others embraced the Danish concept of "hygge," studied the intricacies of transit systems in Mexico City, or investigated environments designed for the Creative Class. These travels are not just about seeing new places; they're about bringing back transformative ideas and applying them creatively to our projects. By engaging deeply with various cultures and innovations, our employees return with enriched perspectives that enhance our work and strengthen our community. At Pillars, every journey is a chance to learn and grow. We celebrate these experiences, which not only foster personal growth but also drive our collective quest for innovation and connection. Our workplace thrives on the curiosity and creativity that these adventures stir, making us more than just colleagues—we're a community that grows together. #JoinPillars #DaysAway #Curiosity #Creativity #Community

We attended the ULI Nashville Talk Walk and Roll Event this morning! They dove deep into the design for complete and green streets on 12th Avenue South. This transformative project, totaling $8 million, boasts transit accessibility, painted conflict zones, rapid flashing beacon lighting, pedestrian mid-block crossings, and dedicated bike lanes. These improvements align perfectly with Metro's Vision Zero initiative for safer streets. Huge shoutout to former CM Colby Sledge of District 17 for his instrumental role in this success! #ULINashville #CompleteStreets #GreenStreets #VisionZero #safety #pedestriansafety #walk #bike

The corner of Fourth and Commerce in downtown Nashville is officially the new home of the Christian & Gospel Music Museum at the Dove Center.    At the groundbreaking on May 2, 2024, Pillars Development and BCMason Group were present to celebrate the start of construction. As construction managers of the exhibit space and general buildout respectively, both organizations are proud to collaborate on Nashville’s next musical milestone. Situated perfectly in the heart of Nashville, this museum celebrates the rich history and impact of Christian and gospel music. As they gear up for the Dove Awards later this year, we're honored to be part of preserving and promoting this important musical legacy. Stay tuned for updates!
