I'm thrilled to announce that Dave Messina transitioning to a full-time role as General Partner of our Future of Health Fund. This move represents a significant step in our journey together with Dave at Pioneer Fund. Dave first joined as a Venture Partner, later became a Senior Venture Partner, and most recently led our first "side fund" focused on investing in and supporting YC and non-YC health companies from our strong network of health founders. Dave will now focus on our Future of Health Fund, where he will lead investments in areas such as precision medicine, longevity, digital therapeutics, and healthcare AI. This move also signifies our continued expansion beyond YC. Although our core seed fund continues to focus on companies within the YC community (YC batch companies and 2nd-time YC founders), our community of now more than 1500 YC founders provides us with a strong pipeline of top health founders both in and outside of YC where the Future of Health Fund will focus. Huge congratulations to AstroForge from the Pioneer Fund portfolio on their $40m Series A. It sounds like an insane idea, but founder Matthew Gialich is serious and pragmatic and they've made rapid technical progress. Later this year they're launching their second mission, to deep space.
