Today I'm celebrating my one year anniversary of launching Pivotal Hires 🎉 I'm super grateful for: all I've learned over the last year for the amazing candidates who have trusted me in guiding them to new roles for my clients who have provided wonderful opportunities for them for the opportunity to interview interesting people on The Pivotal Podcast and for the freedom to do work that brings me such joy and purpose. Some friends told me last week that they think of me as someone who takes risks and seizes opportunities. I appreciate the sentiment, BUT I've heard it said that we tend to regret the things we don't try much more than those we attempt and fail. I tend to agree. Sometimes it comes down to circumstances- when the pain or risk of staying in our current situation is greater than that of trying and failing. That's where I was last year. What about you? Is there something new you're dreaming of doing? Maybe a new business or career you want to pursue? I'd love to hear about it, to help any way I can, and to celebrate your first step towards making that dream a reality. For me, year two starts today. #healthinformatics #recruiting #clinicalinformatics #hiring #anniversary #entrepreneurship #celebrate #riskorregret #workmilestone

Everything eventually works out for our good, but getting fired (or pre-fired) before Christmas sucks. If you're experiencing that right now, I'm sorry. I get it. If you're looking for a new role in health informatics, let's chat. Even if I don't have something in your area, I'm happy to help you put together a strategy for finding your next move. And if you know of open roles or are looking for your next hire in health informatics, I'm happy to chat with you too. You are here for a reason. It might not always feel like it, but there is a purpose for your life, including the work you were created to do. Mine? To glorify God by guiding people to careers that bring them joy and purpose. What's yours? #purposeinwork #mission #why #healthinformatics #nursing #careers #recruiting

Clinical experience + Data = a win for improving patient outcomes

"You know, nursing care is about providing the right care to the right patients at the right time. And what really excited me was that when I started working with data, I could actually use the data to understand what do large groups of patients and populations need and how can we use the evidence to actually deliver to them what those interventions are." In a recent conversation with Martha Sylvia, PhD, MBA, RN, a leader in the field of health analytics and population health, I was reminded of the transformative power of data in reshaping healthcare. Dr. Sylvia's journey from clinical nursing to analytics leadership illustrates a critical shift in healthcare: the need to blend clinical experience with data-driven decision-making. Her experience working across various levels of nursing, coupled with her academic and entrepreneurial ventures, positions her uniquely in leveraging data to enhance patient care. A key takeaway from our conversation was the importance of a person-centric approach to data. Traditional healthcare data systems, organized around transactions, often overlook the individual patient's journey through the healthcare system. Dr. Sylvia advocates for a model that focuses on longitudinal, person-centric data, enabling a more holistic view of patient care. Moreover, Dr. Sylvia's work at ForestVue Healthcare Solutions is a testament to the value of interdisciplinary collaboration. By bringing together clinicians, analysts, business leaders, and health equity experts, ForestVue fosters a culture where diverse perspectives converge to tackle healthcare challenges effectively. As we delve deeper into the era of value-based care, Dr. Sylvia's insights are particularly pertinent. Her emphasis on understanding the problem before jumping to solutions resonates deeply in a sector that is often quick to adopt new technologies without thorough evaluation. This conversation reaffirms the role of data in not just understanding and predicting health trends but also in making informed, ethical decisions that ultimately enhance patient outcomes. As professionals in health informatics, it is our responsibility to harness this power responsibly, ensuring that our actions are always aligned with the best interests of those we serve. #HealthInformatics #DataDrivenHealthcare #PopulationHealth #NursingInformatics

🔍 Exploring New Tools in Health Informatics: anyone heard of Querri? I'm always on the lookout for innovative tools that can streamline our clients' data interaction and analysis processes. I recently came across Querri, a platform designed to simplify the way we interact with our data (forget macros and formulas- simply chat with your data to run analytics and generate visualizations, thanks to AI). What's one of your biggest frustrations in interacting with your data now? I've got early access to the platform and can see if it simplifies whatever causes you headaches. Comment below. #HealthInformatics #DataManagement #InnovationInHealthcare #DigitalHealth #HealthcareTechnology
