The Plano ISD Solomon Adult Transition Center received a generous donation today from 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼 𝘿𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙤, in honor of former member and Plano ISD Trustee Mary Beth King, who recently passed away in August. Mrs. King was an advocate for special needs and public education. The Solomon Center focuses on providing life and employment skills to young adults with special needs. It offers a community-based setting for qualified students to continue with special education services after completing credit requirements for graduation. In addition to skills-based training, young adults participate in authentic employment opportunities. Plano ISD senior high students had great opportunities to learn about future careers last week. Industry professionals from Tech Titans stopped by Plano West Senior High School to chat with students, while Engineering students from Plano East Senior High visited The University of Texas at Dallas to learn about future jobs in the semiconductor industry. #TeamPlanoISD

🎉 #FanFriday Highlight 🎉 Last week, Computer Science & Engineering students from Clark High School and Williams High School explored AT&T Discovery Park! They had an amazing hands-on experience, learning about fiber internet technology and diving into the world of telecommunications. 🎉 Congratulations to Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey, who was announced as the recipient of the 2024 Best of Plano Distinguished Leadership Award by the Plano Chamber of Commerce during Tuesday's Board Work Session. This week's #WinningForKidsWednesday spotlights the incredible work of our PTAs, as Mitchell Elementary School, Carpenter Middle School and Jasper High School were selected as 2023-2025 National PTA Schools of Excellence! These campuses were recognized for their participation in the program, gathering and analyzing community feedback, building an action plan and monitoring progress based on PTA's National Standards for Family-School Partnerships! ❤️ Carpenter Middle held a special pep rally today to celebrate this amazing accomplishment! #TeamPlanoISD

Plano ISD was well-represented at the Texas Junior Academy of Science (TJAS) competition earlier this month in College Station, and the results were out of this world! 🌎✨ 🧪 53 Plano ISD students were accepted to present their research at TJAS. 🔬 Of the 10 first place category awards that advanced to the final round, 7️⃣ were Plano ISD students! Plano ISD captured BOTH Grand Prize awards: 🏆 1st Grand Prize in Physical Science & Engineering 🏆 1st Grand Prize in Natural Sciences 🥈 2nd Grand Prize in Physical Science & Engineering 🥉 3rd Grand Prize in Natural Sciences First-place category winners are now invited to the prestigious American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) Conference in Boston this February to present their research to prominent scientists!
