Yes, we talk a lot about positivity and positive leadership, but that doesn't mean we take a Pollyanna, rainbows-and-unicorns approach to leadership. Instead, we craft our unique approach with decades of c-suite knowledge, insights from coaching hundreds of high-impact clients, and multiple graduate degrees' worth of psychological and organizational study. What's the point of bringing all this together to inform our work? A better workplace, through better leadership, for you.

"It is time to prioritize mental health in the workplace." That's the theme for this year's World Mental Health Day — happening today! We encourage you to take a few minutes to explore this crucial topic here: https://lnkd.in/dknunpQc

To optimize innovation and performance on your team, the people you lead need to feel respected and confident in front of you. This only happens when you take your outsized impact seriously. The saying “Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space” is true for everyone, it applies with more force to leaders: you have to enter every interpersonal situation with care, get ahead of your impact when possible, and circle back when the wake you left behind was rough. So how do you get there? The inside job of generous assumptions — meaning that you look at everyone from the vantage point of assuming everyone is doing the best they can with the resources they’ve access to — helps to reorient your interactions toward creating trust and feelings of safety. When you remember that you're one human operating among other humans, it becomes that much easier to be human.

Did you know that our CEO, Gretchen Pisano, is a renowned speaker on the intersection of leadership and well-being? Check out this wisdom: "This investment in your own well-being not only sets a positive example for your team, it makes work a place where people want to be, not somewhere they have to be." Read her entire post about the why and how of leading with wellness! https://lnkd.in/gWQWwH2N #leadership #positiveleadership #wellbeing #relationships #management
When you model a commitment to your own well-being, those around you will be encouraged to do the same. It’s important to let your team know that you value their mental, emotional and physical health, and that they are safe to bring issues to you that compromise their well-being. It's not enough to say it; they need to see you doing it for them and yourself. Nurture your positive relationships, create time to engage with yourself and to drop into flow, be clear on where you get your sense of purpose, and pursue achievements that feed your well-being. This investment in your own well-being not only sets a positive example for your team, it makes work a place where people want to be, not somewhere they have to be. #leadership #positiveleadership #wellbeing #relationships #management

When you hear the words "generous assumptions," do you think of someone being annoyingly sweet? Or maybe you think generous assumptions are about making excuses or ignoring the truth? It turns out that the opposite is true: when understood in the context of the fundamental attribution error, generous assumptions prove to be a way of entering into more truth. And, as a leader, operating from a place of truth is nonnegotiable. Check out this intro, and then join the remarkable Rebecca Tillemans as she unpacks these concepts and challenges you to rethink some of the thornier interpersonal problems in your leadership journey. This one-hour, interactive, online session is free for members of Open Road: A Community of Leaders. If you haven't started your 30-day free trial, do it today. This once-only Road Trip is happening Thursday, and you won't want to miss it! https://lnkd.in/gYjTaRmY Click here to to start your 30-day trail and join us! https://lnkd.in/g8KBkctz
