Faye Ellis Faye Ellis is an Influencer

AWS Community Hero, cloud architect, keynote speaker, and content creator. I explain cloud technology clearly and simply, to help make rewarding tech careers accessible to all.

🎉I cannot believe I’m writing this: I’m humbled and honoured to have been recognised as an AWS Community Hero, alongside some other seriously amazing and talented folks: Ilanchezhian Ganesamurthy Jimmy Dahlqvist Lee Gilmore Maciej Walkowiak and Jaehyun Shin! ☁️ I first discovered cloud computing almost 10 years ago, when a friend told me about how easy it was to spin up an EC2 instance, install httpd and build a web server in the cloud. That evening, I signed up for an AWS account, and after trying it for myself, I realised that data centres as I knew them were on borrowed time. I needed to quickly get my head around this new thing called cloud! I did everything I could to make sure I was ready to pivot to a cloud architecture role as soon as possible. While working as an architect, I heard many times that people liked the way I explained tech, that what I said made sense and didn’t leave them feeling bewildered or patronised. Now, I’ve been working in IT a long time…. longer than I probably want to admit! I think we all get to a stage in our career when the most important and rewarding thing is to give back, help others, share what we know, and support the next generation of builders, developers and architects as they navigate the ever changing world of tech. I’ve always believed that a rewarding tech career should be available to anyone who is prepared to put time and effort into learning all the things. So in many ways, I suppose it was inevitable that I would end up doing content creation, training and giving talks about what I’ve learned. - I realise what a privilege this is, and I’m incredibly grateful and fortunate to be in a place in my life that enables me do this. 🙏 Massive thanks to all of you out there who have used my content to help pass exams, read my articles and posts, given feedback, commented, liked my videos, attended my talks, or simply followed my journey. None of it would be possible without you all to help me grow and become better at what I do. 👩💻 And if you have a daughter, sister, niece, or friend who is wondering can she make it in tech, please just let her know that she can, there is space for everybody and it’s an incredibly challenging, dynamic, and rewarding space to be! 🎊Here’s to many, many more fun years of learning, celebrating, and sharing AWS knowledge, thanks again to all in my network for being a part of this wonderful journey! #aws #AWSCommunity Amazon Web Services (AWS)
