Celebrating 1 year of Pluto Learning! 🚀 In November, after 9 intense months of work building Pluto Learning, my co-founder Sami Ali and I won the grand prize at The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Business Pitch Competition 2023 where Pluto received $15,000 in initial stage funding delivering a 6-minute live pitch at the Center For Entrepreneurship and Technology Development to an incredibly experienced panel of judges. 8 amazing ideas were selected for this round after a knockout round where we submitted a 3-minute video pitch, and we are thankful and delighted to have made it all the way. With this, Pluto moves forward to Phase 2 of MavPitch, where we’re working closely with the Entrepreneurship Center for additional funding. My co-founder Sami Ali, Jonathan Padilla, and I have been building Pluto Learning’s business model and MVP, pitching to Texas colleges, and actively searching for funding. We are in the process of actively demo-ing for higher-ed institutions all across the US. Pluto Learning is a B2B solution for colleges to enhance academic support for high level STEM courses using AI. Public colleges face scaling and retention challenges for academic support, including tutor shortages, space limitations, and administrative costs, affecting their attrition rate severely. Pluto Learning assists in both collaborative and individual learning seamlessly using AI for students, and has been designed in collaboration with both students, and higher ed faculty. I’d like to thank the organizers and judges of MavPitch for this award and the support we’ve received from the Entrepreneurship Center. I’d love to thank everyone who’s supported us in our journey for the last year building Pluto - everyone who provided feedback and everyone who enthusiastically featured in our pitch videos (through the hundreds of takes). The most memorable part about building Pluto Learning has still been finishing our pitch and hearing from students from the audience, and hundreds of others along the way, that they want Pluto launched ASAP.
