Delighted to have Bloomsbury celebrate with us!
Our Adult Trade team had a lovely evening out at last night's Poets & Writers, Inc. Gala which was packed to the gills with authors, poets, booksellers and publishers. We were even lucky enough to be joined by our new President, Sabrina McCarthy, and Janet Finch, the author of White Oleander!

Poets & Writers extends grateful thanks to Nihar Malaviya, CEO of Penguin Random House, for chairing our 2024 Gala, held last night at Pier Sixty in New York City. Thanks to his leadership and the incredible generosity of our donors, including Premier Underwriters Penguin Random House and Books-a-Million, we raised $1,032,262! Nearly 600 guests attended, including more than sixty Literary Table Hosts. The celebration opened with a poem read by New York State Poet Laureate and Jackson Poetry Prize winner Patricia Spears Jones; David Remnick was our incredibly thoughtful host. Laurie Halse Anderson, Roxane Gay, and Nikole Hannah-Jones received the Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award, which recognizes authors who have given generously to other writers or to the broader literary community. The award is named for Barnes & Noble Booksellers in appreciation of the company’s enduring support of Poets & Writers. This year’s recipients have been courageous and outspoken in response to efforts to silence them and limit access to their work; in so doing they have helped defend the rights of all writers. Mitchell Kaplan received the Champion of Writers Award, recognizing his many contributions to defending the freedom to read--and write. Proceeds from the event support Poets & Writers Magazine, pw.org, the Readings & Workshops Program, Get the Word Out, and much more. Watch this short video to learn more about our work.
