While our engineering and technology teams are working around the clock to restore service in storm-impacted areas, some of our other team members collected and delivered water to Virginia emergency personnel, first responders and law enforcement at the Russell County and Tazewell County Sheriff’s Offices, the Damascus Rescue Squad, and the Marion Emergency Management Agency. Thank you to all who are working hard to save lives and assist people impacted by recent storms.

We are keeping a close eye on the Gulf. A potential hurricane -- which would be named Helene -- is churning in the Caribbean and is forecast to make landfall along the Gulf Coast on Thursday. While there is still much uncertainty with this storm, please prepare now if you live in the projected path. Have supplies like flashlights with batteries, enough food and water for several days, and a battery-powered or crank radio to keep you informed of developing weather updates. High winds and extremely heavy rain could impact service along the path of this storm. We will have crews on standby to make repairs once it is safe. We'll update you as we know more.
