What do you think? This is an unexpected miking technique discussed during our Webinar, Explore Theatre Miking Head to Heel. (sound on for the video, please) It was revealed that Paul Bevan, Emmy-winning sound engineer & Cinema Audio Society Award Winner for Excellence in Sound Mixing, chose Point Source Audio EMBRACE as an on-ear miking method. Instead of placing the mic on the instrument or using a traditional microphone stand, Paul mounted the mic on world-renown violinist Joshua Bell’s ear—just above his instrument and out of the camera’s view.
