A badge of honor, a legacy of courage. Today, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez presented Deputy Derrick Bates with his late father's badge number.
 
Deputy Rondald Bates, who served HCSO for over 30 years, will forever be in our hearts. Deputy Derrick Bates now proudly carries on his father's legacy in Patrol Bureau District 5.

HCSO Joins Statewide Effort to Reduce Recidivism. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is proud to participate in the first-ever reentry collaboration among Texas counties. This two-day event will focus on sharing best practices and initiatives to help formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society and reduce their chances of returning to the criminal justice system. Our collective goal is to create better outcomes for these individuals by implementing evidence-based strategies and strengthening support systems. We believe that working together can enhance rehabilitation efforts and provide a stronger foundation for their success. We look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions with our partner agencies and fostering partnerships that will positively impact communities across Texas.
