With the end of summer, we are getting back to our regular routines. Just like getting your flu shot, make annual screening for colon cancer part of your healthcare to do list. The American Cancer Society published that colon cancer is the leading cause of death in men under 50 and the second-leading in women, but ~90% of these deaths are preventable if detected early.1,2 If you are 45 years of age or older and at average risk for colon cancer**, you should be getting screened every year with FIT, a noninvasive stool test that can be completed from the comfort and privacy of home. For your annual screening, ask your healthcare professional about OC-Auto FIT® or visit https://hubs.la/Q02NRZ5l0 to learn more or get a screening test 1.Siegel RL, Giaquinto AN, Jemal A. Did you know? Health organizations like the US Preventive Services Task Force, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the US Multi-Society Task Force on colorectal cancer have all updated their guidelines for colon cancer screening. These guidelines recommend fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) every year or colonoscopy every 10 years for average-risk adults 45-75. Screening with a noninvasive FIT can be done in the privacy of your home. Getting screened on time can save your life. Talk to your doctor to find out what’s right for you.
