When a new tech company in the restaurant industry raises an $11M Seed round followed by a $24M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, I'm going to pay attention. When that same company is also one of the very few in the industry innovating in #blockchain, I had to try their product myself. But blockchain, while so promising for the industry, carries potential pitfalls for consumer applications. I'm pleased to say that I encountered none of them with Blackbird Labs at the 3 #NYC restaurants I visited last week: Tortazo, Slate Cafe and Cappone's Italian Sandwich shop and Salumeria What I experienced was a unique, frictionless, and compelling payment and loyalty flow at some of NYC's best spots. It evoked the feeling of membership at places special enough to where being a member would matter. Michael Beck and I like to think about how we "place bets" on the companies that could and should transform the industry. Ben Leventhal and the Blackbird team are ones I would bet big on to make serious waves in the years ahead. In the experience economy, this guest experience and the operator benefits make so much sense. A special thanks to Michael Addison - our conversation helped shape this amazing visit. 🙏

Whether you're a restaurant or a tech solution, if there's a place for your video storytelling, you've got to be on YouTube. Here's some storytelling wisdom from our friend, Shawn P. Walchef of Cali BBQ Media, describing his YouTube-centric video strategy for 2024 and '25. Fun fact: YouTube made up 9.7% of all viewership on connected and traditional TVs in the U.S. in May 2024 — the largest share of TV for a streaming platform ever reported by Nielsen’s monthly “The Gauge” report. Netflix ranked second, claiming 7.6% of viewership. Among streamers only, YouTube’s total viewership was close to 25% market share. Speaking of #youtube, you can see all of the Morning Sam, Morning Ralph Podcast #MSMR episodes there. Please subscribe anywhere you get podcasts! It's how we can keep doing these great interviews! 🍿 https://lnkd.in/e8FxkVMP

Praying that everyone in Milton's path stays safe and secure. 🙏 Please consider supporting CORE with a donation, today! For me, this is the best way I know how to help the people in our restaurant industry most impacted by Hurricane Milton and Helene. A donation to CORE provides emergency funds for shelter, food, transportation, and other critical services to qualifying food & beverage service families affected by these catastrophic hurricanes. We just came back from the Olo Partner Summit, and we were shocked to hear of all the stories about restaurants "throttling" digital orders with reckless abandon during high-volume periods. There's a better way! You need Olo and Curbit for kitchen capacity management! Control the order flow and watch your customer sentiment scores and throughput rise! #happyhandoffs #controltheflow #promiseskept #kitchencapacitymanagement
