The NJ Alliance for Action awarded PATH Director/General Manager Clarelle DeGraffe its prestigious Golden Eagle Award for Engineering at its 50th anniversary celebration in New Brunswick, N.J. The Alliance, the region’s premier engineering and construction trades association, recognized Clarelle’s extraordinary career in engineering and her leadership on a range of critical Port Authority projects. These include the rebuild of the World Trade Center and -- as director of PATH since 2019 -- the $2 billion Superstorm Sandy reconstruction program, the rollout of a new fare collection system, and the railroad’s current PATH Forward initiative to modernize the 116-year-old PATH system through track, station, and rail car replacement and rehabilitation. Congratulations Clarelle!

From a park grill in Queens to the Best New Airport Terminal in the World... Carlitos BBQ at Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal A is one of many local minority- and women-owned business enterprises that have found success at The Port Authority's airports. "Transitioning from our little food trailer to this bustling airport has been an incredible journey. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the stories and the connections we can forge with people passing through here to their own new destinations. 🚨 PATH Hoboken Station 25-Day Closure 🚨 The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will temporarily close PATH Hoboken station from 11:59 PM Thursday, January 30 – 5 AM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 for essential track and station enhancements as part of the $430M PATH Forward program. This full closure will enable critical track replacement, upgrades to the system which enables switching between tracks, and station rehabilitations to be completed faster than intermittent shutdowns over multiple years. “We recognize that a full station closure is disruptive, but it allows us to fast-track significant repair work within the station and critical infrastructure around it that would otherwise have involved years of intermittent closures if we performed it piecemeal,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. PATH has worked with regional transit partners to provide riders with extensive travel alternatives while this work is completed, including expanded ferry service, frequent shuttle buses to other PATH stations, and supplemental PATH, light rail, and NJ TRANSIT bus service between Hoboken and Manhattan. Our new virtual taxi dispatch app allows yellow cab drivers to claim their spot in line virtually. Before the app, cab drivers would spend 2-3 hours waiting at JFK International Airport's central taxi hold queue. Now, they get hours back in their day without losing any business! “I got an email from a taxi driver thanking us because the app allowed him to drive his daughter to school for the first time in eight years,” said Colleen Kennedy, a planner in the Port Authority’s aviation department. “I loved to hear that. That was probably one of the most heartfelt moments, where I realized this is really impacting people’s lives.” Read our Now Arriving blog to learn more about the amenities and upgrades we've made for taxi drivers here at our airports: https://ow.ly/iAu750TWC3S #Taxi #YellowCab #App

EXCITING NEWS: We're advancing our plans for a new Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport! “With the EWR Vision Plan in place, we are wasting no time getting the ball rolling on the planning for a new world-class Terminal B,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. The current Terminal B, which opened in 1973, has struggled to meet evolving passenger and industry needs. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey's Board has approved $55 million to advance the design of the new terminal, which is the first major step in our comprehensive plan to reimagine Newark Liberty. “This funding will allow us to develop a roadmap to deliver a new Terminal B to match the award-winning Terminal A. The robust accolades received at Newark and LaGuardia – along with the major construction happening across JFK’s footprint – demonstrates that the Port Authority is more than capable of delivering best-in-class airport facilities," said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton.
