The Port purchased nearly 200 homes from an out-of-town investor last month with one goal - creating affordable homeownership opportunities. The Wall Street Journal shares the story of how institutional investors are buying up larger shares of the residential real estate market for high-priced rentals, and how The Port is taking ownership for residents. #affordablehousing #ThePortImpact https://on.wsj.com/3rnNehw

What started as simple waste removal became a toxic cleanup after this property was vandalized and hazardous materials were spilled into the surrounding soil. After many weeks of work, a partnership with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and a lot of investment, the former Midwest Textiles building is finally clean and secure. Properties like this are both a nuisance and a hazard for surrounding residents and we look forward to returning it to productive use! Stay tuned for the full story about how The Port creates cleaner, greener neighborhoods in our upcoming Port Short. #cleanup #environment #industrial #cincinnati #epa

Today's virtual tour stop takes us Downtown to a true chameleon of a building. In 2016, a new 17-story building opened at the Southeast corner of 8th and Sycamore bringing with it 133 residential units, street-level commercial space, and parking. Working with the developers, North American Properties and 3CDC, and the City of Cincinnati, The Port utilized its Public Finance tools to support the project. The unique color-changing facade makes this building a true standout in the downtown skyline! Learn more and see more of The Port's projects and partnerships here: https://loom.ly/ap2N6tw

Earlier this week, we were excited to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Union on Taft! This innovative 103-unit redevelopment of a former office building will provide much needed student housing just blocks from the University of Cincinnati campus. Congratulations to Uptown Rental Properties, HGC Construction, RDA Group Architects, LLC, and all of the partners that helped make this project possible. The Port was proud to play a role, supporting this development through our Public Finance practice!

We're grateful for the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD), the State of Ohio and Governor Mike DeWine for awarding the Hamilton County Landbank, a managed entity of The Port, more than $2 million for the cleanup of four properties in Hamilton County, helping us deliver on our promise to make neighborhoods cleaner, greener, and safer. As part of the state's Brownfield Remediation program, the ODOD awarded nearly $107 million for the cleanup and assessment of 61 properties throughout the state. ✨Project Spotlight! ✨ PLK Communities' mixed-use development, Factory 52, brings density and vibrancy to a vacant, 20-acre site in City of Norwood. Once the main production facility for the U.S. Playing Card Company, the new development incorporates the original factory, clock tower, cafeteria, and smokestack into the development. Multiple public art installations further harken back to the site's original use. The Port provided public financing to support both phases of development, which includes over 400 apartments, a market hall, central green and gathering spaces, retail and amenity space, and more. Learn more about this transformative development, here: https://loom.ly/Rga8o6I
