About us
The Port of Los Angeles, America’s Port® and the premier gateway for international commerce, is located in San Pedro Bay, 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. This thriving seaport not only sustains its competitive edge with record-setting cargo operations, but is also known for its sustainable philosophy, advanced technology, and cutting-edge facilities. To maintain its position among the world’s top ports, the Port continuously addresses the modernization and efficiency of its cargo-handling terminals by investing in transportation and infrastructure projects. The Port of Los Angeles encompasses 7,500 acres of land and water along 43 miles of waterfront, and features both passenger and cargo terminals, including container, automobile, bulk and warehouse facilities that handle billions of dollars worth of cargo each year. When measured by container throughput, the Port has consecutively ranked as the No. 1 port in the nation since the year 2000. With an exceptional credit record, the Port maintains an AA bond rating, the highest rating attainable for self-funded ports. The Port also wields tremendous economic impact, generating employment for more than 3 million Americans nationwide. In California alone, more than 1 million jobs are related to trade though the Port of Los Angeles. In addition to its impressive cargo portfolio, the Port funds and maintains the LA Waterfront, and remains committed to enhancing public access to the waterfront by connecting visitors and local harbor communities with recreational and commercial attractions that expand and diversify the Port’s position as a premier source of economic vitality for the region. With miles of public promenade and walking paths, acres of open space and scenic views, the LA Waterfront blankets more than 400 acres of prime waterfront property and boasts historic Los Angeles Harbor landmarks, such as the Vincent Thomas Bridge, Angels Gate Lighthouse and Municipal Warehouse No. 1.

Statement from Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka on Tentative Agreement Between ILA and USMX: "The Port of Los Angeles applauds all parties involved in reaching a tentative agreement between the International Longshoremen’s Association and USMX. Thank you to the Biden-Harris Administration for supporting these negotiations. This swift resolution shows collective bargaining works. We are glad to see the ILA dockworkers return to work as the holiday season begins. 🇭🇷🇺🇸The Port of Los Angeles recently welcomed Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who met with Port Executive Director Gene Seroka and other Port officials, touring the nation’s busiest container port. The Prime Minister was accompanied by a delegation that included Croatian Ambassador to the United States Pjer Šimunović and Croatian Consul General Renee Pea among other Croatian dignitaries. This visit facilitated important discussions on trade, economic partnership and infrastructure, and holds deep cultural significance as San Pedro is home to nearly 30,000 Croatian Americans--one of the largest Croatian enclaves in the nation.
