It's not every day we get to unveil a new railroad! Earlier today we announced, with our partners at OmniTRAX, Inc., the Mount Vernon Railroad at Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon. OmniTRAX will operate the MVRR, and we will team up to grow business and jobs for host Southwest Indiana city. That's not all: just for fun, MSD Mount Vernon elementary school students get to name the locomotives. :) ❤️🚂 The teamwork reached all the way to Memphis today, as our CEO Jody Peacock announced the new railroad at the 50th Anniversary Inland Rivers, Ports, and Terminals Conference! Excited to drop our latest podcast - as we talk about the Indiana Container Initiative and how cargo ships can travel all the way between Europe and the Midwest - with Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock. Jody explains the route (and locks) these ships take, what container shipping would mean to the region, the environmental advantages of water transport (including river barges), what Indiana already imports and exports - including steel and agriculture, and much more. If 600 people show up for the christening of a towboat named in your honor, and stick around for the open house afterward, that says something. Ports of Indiana partner-tenant #ARTCo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ADM, chose Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon to unveil the Mv. Royce Wilken on Aug. 24, honoring Mr. Wilken for his contributions to the company and maritime industry over a 40-year career at ADM and ARTCo's inland waterways operations. Congrats to you, Mr. Wilken, and to ARTCo for a great day at #MountVernon! https://lnkd.in/ejzgkyt9
