It’s an exciting time in the energy business. Last week, I had the privilege of speaking with Nicholas Thompson during The Atlantic Festival’s Innovation Hour.   We’re seeing an incredible growing demand for energy with the rise of technologies such as artificial intelligence and data centers and an increase of electric vehicles on the road.   At Southern Company, we are tireless in our pursuit to develop and advance clean solutions that ensure customers, communities and businesses can thrive. Energy is essential to our American way of life and our economic and national security.   Every day, we are striving to be better than the last. I am proud of the work our 28,000 teammates do every day to provide our customers with clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy.

Storm Alert: Helene Approaching Florida’s Coast 🌪️ Helene continues its path across the Gulf of Mexico, heading straight for the Florida coast. The storm's track remains consistent, with landfall expected tonight. Even though the storm's eye is still over water, powerful rain bands are already sweeping north from Panama City, FL, reaching across the Southeast. Significant damage is anticipated in Florida's Big Bend region, currently under a hurricane warning for at least the next 24 hours. Tallahassee, the nearest major metro area, is expected to face 75mph winds, putting it near the storm’s most intense zone. Caution is urged if you’re in the area or traveling nearby. As Helene moves inland, wind speeds will drop, but tropical storm-force winds are forecast to impact much of Middle and South Georgia tonight and into tomorrow. Heavy rain and flash flooding are also major concerns, especially in areas already experiencing rainfall. At PowerSecure, our PowerControl Monitoring team is actively prepared to assist with outages, while PowerSecure Service teams are making final checks to ensure mobile units are ready and available as the storm progresses. Stay safe and take all necessary precautions during this time! #HurricaneHelene #StormPreparedness #PowerSecure #StaySafe

PowerSecure Update: Tropical Storm Helene PowerSecure continues to monitor Tropical Storm Helene closely as it tracks northward between Mexico and Cuba. The storm is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico, where it will likely strengthen to Hurricane status. Landfall Forecast: Helene is projected to make landfall Thursday evening just south of Tallahassee, FL, with hurricane-force winds impacting the West coast of Florida and heavy rainfall across South Georgia and the Alabama state line. Florida's entire coastline is under a tropical storm warning. Residents should prepare for high winds and severe weather throughout the state. Coastal Impact: The storm is expected to bring a storm surge of 3 to 15 feet in some areas, especially near the Big Bend region, where the storm may reach Category 3 strength. PowerSecure is Prepared: PowerSecure has been preparing in conjunction with our customers and ensuring units are ready and operational prior to the storm. Our service team will have additional technicians in the region to assist with any issues after the storm. Stay safe and stay prepared! #HurricanePreparedness #PowerSecure #TropicalStormHelene #StormResponse #HurricaneSeason

Storm Update: Preparedness in Full Swing The storm has yet to reach tropical storm strength, but it’s on track to transition into Helene later today. Forecasts remained consistent overnight, showing the storm tracking between Mexico and Cuba over the next 24-36 hours. By Wednesday, it's expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico as a hurricane, targeting Florida's Big Bend region—the same area impacted by Debby earlier this season. 💡 Key Considerations: While the path reflects the eye of the storm, impacts will extend across much of the West Coast of Florida as the system grows. Expect severe weather across North Florida and South Georgia as the outer bands hit these areas. ⚡️ PowerSecure Readiness: Our PowerControl Monitoring team is working closely with customers in the storm’s path to ensure units are fully tested and operational. The PowerSecure Service team is actively coordinating with customers and preparing technicians for rapid deployment to assist as needed in the wake of the storm. We’re committed to ensuring reliable power. Stay safe and stay prepared! #StormPreparedness #HurricaneHelene #PowerSecure #ReliableEnergy

Additionally, PowerSecure Service is actively engaging with customers in the affected areas to make sure all necessary repairs and preparations are completed. We are also tracking a second tropical wave off the coast of Africa. While its potential impact is still uncertain, we will continue to monitor its growth and keep our customers informed. PowerSecure is closely monitoring Tropical Depression Eight. The system is mostly over land at this point, although the eye of the storm is still offshore. It’s expected to move onshore later this evening around Georgetown, SC. The storm is bringing rain and severe weather across Eastern North Carolina currently. The forecast expects rain and continued thunderstorms across the area for the next 48 hours. Similar to Francine, winds are expected to weaken quickly as the system moves inland. However, flash flooding along the coast and low-lying areas is a risk for most of SC and NC. PowerControl Monitoring will continue to track the storm’s progress and will be ready to address any outages on our customer’s behalf. PowerSecure Service has technicians spread across the impacted area to assist customers as needed.
