PRAESIIDIUM meets dAIbetes_HorizonEurope: using #AI to deliver improved personalised #diabetes prevention and care. ⁉ Do you know that the #European prevalence of diabetes in 2021 was of 1 in 11 adults (61M), and its incidence is predicted to increase to 69M by 2045? Moreover, 541M adults worldwide have Impaired Glucose Tolerance (or so-called prediabetes), which is an important risk factor for further T2D development. Research in the field is pivotal. The two #HorizonEuropeSisterProjects dAIbetes_HorizonEurope and PRAESIIDIUM are pleased to join forces to fight against diabetes, as we are applying the power of artificial intelligence to create prediction algorithms and tools to support clinical decisions in diabetes care. 📍 PRAESIIDIUM aims at developing a real-time #prediction of the #prediabetic risk based on “physics-informed machine learning” algorithm: real-life data (obtained from already existing previous and a new clinical trial with continuous data ingestion through wearable sensors) will be combined with mathematical models and #eXplainableAI techniques. The final algorithm will be implemented in a platform, where medical doctors and patients can inject data from several sources (including wearables) and obtain a real-time analysis of the risk to develop the prediabetic condition over time 📍 The primary aim of dAIbetes_HorizonEurope is to provide personalized predictions for treatment outcomes in type 2 diabetes, addressing the critical, but unmet medical need for tailored treatment guidelines in diabetes care. By harmonizing data from multiple patient cohorts across Europe and the US, dAIbetes will create virtual twin models that will be validated and deployed in real-world clinical settings. On 27th of September the Latvisn team of the HorizonEurope PRAESIIDIUM project coordinated by Spindox Labs Labs took part in the European Researchers’ night at the University of Latvia. We demontrated methods used in our lab to reach the objectives of the project, educated the participants about healthy eating and continious glucose monitoring! The most popular activity was guessing the sugar content in various foods! We thank all participant for active involvement!!!
