Our Circuit Clerk's Office's third annual Amnesty Week is a growing success. Each year, people with overdue McHenry County court fines are given an opportunity to pay them in full and have all collection fees and interest waived. Since its creation two years ago, Amnesty Week has saved 127 individuals about $34,000 in late fees and interest, and about $43,000 owed to the court has been paid to date. Also this year, the Circuit Clerk's Office is partnering with Prairie State Legal Services Inc. and the McHenry County Bar Association to hold a one-day Expungement Clinic to help people prepare and file requests, free of charge, to clear their criminal record.
