Are you interested in technical innovation and cutting-edge research developments in the nuclear industry? Reserve your spot for April’s Game Changers lunchtime Tech Talks discussing the development of needlestick-resistant gauntlets and the use of novel radar technology for the asset management of ventilation systems.
📅 Date and time: Thursday 18th April 2024, 12pm
April’s session will feature talks on:
➡ A novel fabric treatment method developed for use in the manufacture of high-performance needlestick-resistant glovebox gauntlets. Dr Ryan Seabright, Technical Leader of Advanced Materials and Devices at QinetiQ, will discuss the innovative approach being used to increase the performance of off-the-shelf protective fabrics in terms of needlestick resistance, improving user dexterity compared to the current solution employed at Sellafield Ltd.
➡ Harnessing the power of 3D mm-wave radar technology and the building of custom algorithms to solve an array of asset management challenges. Stephen McNulty, CEO of Dublin-based condition monitoring experts PRAM, will illustrate how they are utilising novel radar technology alongside temperature, humidity and acoustic sensors to deliver a comprehensive, long-term alternative to existing methods of mapping, monitoring and predicting corrosion across safety-critical ventilation systems.
