Even though we had less students than we'd like this round (our max is 9 students), we're always encouraged by the young talent that comes into Precise Tool and Manufacturing, and it reinforces the resolve to continue training our own team. Incredible part for a water #turbine generator. ⚙️ Nitronic 60 steel is known for its great resistance to galling, which is a form of wear caused by adhesion between sliding surfaces. Ideal material for components like valve stems, fasteners, and etc for #aerospace and #powergeneration industries. _ However it does present significant difficulties to machine because this #metal becomes harder as cutting progresses! Takes a very careful selection of cutting tools, slower cutting speeds, and even the use of specialized coolant systems to prevent overheating, and maintain efficiency. _ But if you can #cncmachine it successfully, the pay off is huge. Strength at elevated temperatures, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and a lot more! Machining some #brass today! Looks like the rings Sonic gathers in the original SEGA games. In all seriousness, brass is highly machinable, because it’s relatively soft and makes short, clean chips, reducing the risk of chip entanglement and minimizing tool wear. Brass can also achieve a very smooth surface finish with minimal post-machining polishing. It does have a moderate thermal expansion rate, so it’s important to monitor temperatures during machining to maintain tight tolerances; buts useful in its scope of applications and Precise is happy to #manufacture this material for our clients. _ #metalwork #metalsmith #manufacturing #manufacturer #engineering #precisetool
