Important Update for the Transportation Industry: On November 18, 2024, a critical FMCSA rule will take effect, requiring states to downgrade the CDLs of approximately 163,000 truck drivers who are in “prohibited” status due to drug and alcohol violations. These drivers cannot legally return to the road until they complete the return-to-duty process. As we approach this deadline, motor carriers may see an increase in job applicants. It’s crucial to remain diligent: review all pre-employment background checks, including MVRs, FMCSA’s Pre-Employment Screening Program, and the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
