I once read a stat that changed my career: only 5-15% of online learning content actually gets completed. Think about that. If your customers only consumed 5-15% of your product, you’d be out of business. Imagine buying a gallon of milk and drinking just a sip. Meanwhile, corporations and institutions spend $200 billion a year on online learning content. It's the corporate equivalent of a gym membership: everyone pays for it, and it feels good, but nobody uses it. I wondered, is all media like this? I looked at other media — TV shows, movies, podcasts. The good stuff. Media designed to engage us sees 60-80% completion rates. That’s when the obvious question emerged: What if learning content was as engaging as entertainment? Primerli was born out of this question. We wanted to build learning content that people actually finish - content crafted on principles of engagement first and teaching second. We had to rewrite all the traditional rules about instructional design. Forget “learning objectives.” Instead, all of our effort goes into storylines, suspense, visual hooks—all optimized to grab attention and keep it. We call this ‘engagement-first content.’ And it works. In a world where “online learning” sends people running (thank you mandatory compliance trainings for the great reputation), our primers see 60-90% voluntary completion rates. Learners come back asking for additional content. The problem is that creating good content takes a ridiculous amount of effort. For every hour of content, we invest 500 person-hours. It’s painfully slow and expensive but worth every second when people actually use it—and love it. Here is a crazy idea: what if companies spent the same amount of money but invested in less content – just better content? I think everyone, including learners, L&D leaders, and vendors, would be better off.

In Learning and Development, one of the big questions is: how do you measure success? The answer most people get excited about is one that sounds simple: tie your learning program to business outcomes. If your training boosts sales, you’ve nailed it. Here’s the problem: business outcomes won’t tell you much about your success with one of your biggest audiences: beginners. It hit me at my daughter’s volleyball practice. The coach kept saying, “Good job” every time the ball went over the net. When it didn’t, he gave a pointer. Outcome-focused - exactly what we want in L&D. Then I thought back to when I was a kid learning volleyball. My coach was completely different. He was pure Mr. Miyagi. At first, he didn’t care where the ball went. He wanted me to perfect the technique. I didn’t even touch the ball for weeks, until I had the form perfected. This was a more progress-focused approach. In L&D, we often mistake good results for good progress (or vice versa) and measure beginners in the same way as experienced learners. For newbies, progress is about form (i.e. building foundational skills), not instant results. That foundation DOES lead to business outcomes—just not right away. In fact, the more you invest in foundational skills early on, the better the performance results will be eventually. Look closely into any top athlete’s story. You’ll find a coach that is obsessed with perfecting the technique very early on. Consulting firms also know this very well. The first six months in consulting are heavily focused on building what we call “the consulting toolkit” which is foundational skills like modeling, structured communication, storytelling, etc. None of these are immediately linked to client value. They are designed to make you a better business “athlete”. In fact, in most offices, consultants don’t even bill to the cases for the first ~6 months. At first, it’s all about investing in learning the foundations. The big point for me: we’re better off when we deaverage the way we define success in L&D, building different measurement paths for beginners and experienced professionals, and tracking progress at every level. Then, we can make sure our beginner-level programs are effective at their actual goal: foundation building, with longer-term outcomes in mind.

Thank you for the shout-out, Cesar Augusto Rosa Delgado! We're thrilled you found the video insightful. Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are indeed reshaping the future of energy - it's no longer just about centralized utilities— our homes are becoming key players in the energy ecosystem. ⚡ #EnergyFuture #DER #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Sustainability

Very insightful video by Primerli demonstrating how the traditional energy supply-demand equation is being rewritten, with a surprising new variable: our homes. It’s fascinating to see how Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), like rooftop solar and electric vehicles, are shifting power dynamics. The energy equation is no longer just for centralized utilities. Now, we can generate, store, and even control energy ourselves. This video offers a fresh perspective on how we’ve moved beyond being just consumers, exploring how these small-scale systems are transforming the larger grid. If you’ve been curious about the future of energy, this is worth watching.
