Hello LinkedIners, It's been a while since I posted a #Tedwalks update. As we were strolling this weekend, it was apparent that autumn is well and truly upon us. On our regular canal walk, Ted blends in well to the beautiful autumnal colours which we enjoy at this time of year. But with the leaves falling from the trees, I was struck by how warm it remains with the ongoing impact of Climate Change on everything around us. If you were affected by Storm Ashley this weekend, I hope you remained safe. With climate change in mind, seeing the trees undergoing their annual acts of self-preservation at this time of year always gets me thinking about how precious our forests are, and how vulnerable they can be if we don’t do our part to protect them. This week sees International Print Day, which takes place on 23rd October. It’s as good a time as any to talk about what the print industry can and should be doing to keep our green spaces healthy and thriving. After all, our industry relies on trees for its own survival, so I feel strongly that we should be open about how we deal with our environmental impact. At KYOCERA Document Solutions UK our Philosophy teaches us to leave the planet in a better state than we found it. So the good news is we’re very much doing our bit. At manufacturing level we do all we can to reduce our environmental impact. Locally, we have been working with reforestation and carbon offsetting company PrintReleaf. We are proud that our customers have now collectively offset the equivalent of 170 million pages of paper through the reforesting of over 20,000 trees. The equivalent to 8 hectares or c16 football pitches! We are pleased to say that this particular UK project is now complete, and we are actively looking for new reforestation or afforestation opportunities in the UK. And we don't stop there....Our collaboration with myclimate also continues to go from strength to strength, investing in carbon reduction projects including forest protection and the provision of efficient cooking stoves to families in Africa. In addition, we maintain great pride in our unique KYOCERA Carbon-Neutral Managed Print Services, which offsets the manufacturing and shipping of all devices our customers purchase, alongside the consumables used and all ongoing services, such as engineer mileage and customer support. And my posts wouldn't be complete without mention of our busy KYOCERA Document Solutions UK Bees 🐝 on our roof at our HQ's in Reading. As part of our focus on supporting and improving the bio diversity in our local area, 2024 saw our bee's produced over 60kg's of honey from our two hives🍯 International Print Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful achievements and innovations of our industry. It feels even better knowing Kyocera along with all our partners and peers, are doing everything in our power to be always keep the environment front of mind.
