ProX Summer

I was just a sophomore who didn’t have a clue what she wanted to do in life. At a family dinner, my aunt pulled me to the side to show me something her church recommended for the youth. It was a summer internship, and I was already uninterested. I didn’t want my whole summer to be taken up by some internship; I wanted to have fun with my friends. My mom made me do the application because she said it would be a good experience for me. I put it off until the last minute and was almost late turning it in. When I was accepted, I had no idea what was in store for me.   At the hiring fair, I figured if I was going to do an internship, it would be in journalism, which I was used to. I had joined my school’s yearbook that year and had already begun to grow in my journalistic abilities; I wanted to grow more. I chose the ProX Social Media Internship and was so excited when I got hired. The first day consisted of drawing pictures of my coworkers, taking a personality test, and getting to know my employer. The first week I remember being shy and not knowing what I was doing. As the internship progressed, I grew more confident and learned how to be in a professional environment. The people I met are people I still keep in touch with to this day; I had so much fun with them that I decided to work with my employer throughout the school year. Obviously, I decided to do the program for a second year. I stuck with the same internship because of how much fun I had last year. I was kind of like a ProX veteran. People knew me, and people recognized me. It showed me the network I was able to build for myself while doing the program. As my second year is coming to an end, I can say that ProX has taught me how to take charge and be a leader in situations where it’s needed. I’ve learned the importance of marketing in today’s world and have studied trends and algorithms to better the ProX social media. I’ve grown more confident in interviewing and talking to strangers,  I’ve built lifelong connections and gained skills to help me build an impressive resume that will help me apply to colleges in the coming year. I’ve found my passion while growing with the internship. I want to major in journalism and minor in business in college, and thanks to ProX, I’ve already gained experience in both. - Sophia Jackson, 2nd Year ProX Intern

The application deadline for ProX 2024 is next Friday,  February 16th, a little over a week away. We have received almost 3,000 applications this year from area high schoolers who are eager to intern and participate in client connect projects with companies like yours this summer, starting June 3rd - July 11th.
