A Great Day on the Green: SAME Space Coast Post 2024 Golf Tournament The Society of American Military Engineers Space Coast Post hosted their Annual Golf Tournament on a beautiful sunny day at the Cocoa Beach County Club in Cocoa Beach, FL. Several members of Procon's FL team joined forces with the DRMP team to swing in support of the SAME mission and the Space Coast Post 2025 scholarship fund. CMAA 2024: Pushing the Industry Forward We are still catching our breath from the jam-packed days of learning and networking at Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) 2024. Procon sent a team of 10 to San Francisco this year to lead, participate, and attend various educational sessions, meet with partners, clients, and friends on the tradeshow floor, and attend evening events with industry partners and peers. Some of the highlights include: - Procon's SVP of Strategy, Jason Lopez, CCM, CQM, LEED GA, participating in the Opening Plenary Session alongside our friends from CM Solutions, Kahua, AECOM, and 6D PMCM to talk about perfecting project data using AI technology. - A full house at the Hands-on AI and Automation Strategies for Construction Managers session featuring our Director of Technology, Stephen DeVito, CM-BIM. - Rounding up our industry pals for a welcome happy hour. - Entrepreneurial advice from Procon co-founder and CEO Kyu Jung at the Building Capacity with History Underutilized Businesses session (spoiler alert: you can't start a successful business without passion). - Chatting with high school juniors about various opportunities within the A/E/C industry and the importance of showing up. - Two educational sessions about ChatGPT and AI for construction featuring Procon's Strategic Growth Exec., Vincent Testa P.E., MBA, CCM, LEED GA. - A team dinner to celebrate our time at CMAA 2024 before returning to our respective cities and regularly scheduled programming. SAME Project of Excellence: The Seattle Federal Office Building We love a project with unique architectural details and a rich history. Procon is thrilled to receive a Project of Excellence Award from the Society of American Military Engineers Seattle Post for our work as the CM as Advisor to GSA R10 for the exterior restoration of the Settle Federal Office Building in downtown Seattle. This 86-year old building houses various federal agency offices across 12 stories and 307,150 SF. The Seattle FOB was registered as a National Historic Building in 1979, meaning all of the renovation work had to preserve the Art Deco architecture and comply with the guidelines for historic structures. Preserving some of the buildings original features and materials required custom solutions, enhanced collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The use of double pane vacuum insulated glass (VIG) for the window restoration was the first of its kind for a GSA historical building and provided improved sound and energy insulation. By the project's completion, thousands of red exterior bricks had been replaced, along with 720 windows. Huge congratulations to Procon's Senior Project Manager, Allen Wycoff, on this well-deserved win! For the third year in a row, Team Procon came together at Freedom Plaza to participate in The Race for Every Child! This year, Dante Loza, Aaron Cox, CCM, CM-Lean, CQM, Amber Wills, and Mark Ilich joined in person, while Trish Stansbury ran the race remotely. Mark’s son, Grayson, joined in on the fun and took first place for our team! Procon's involvement in this event began as part of our work with Clark Construction Group and Amazon, and has since become an annual tradition.
