Here's something fascinating about #Target I did not know until I got my hands on some research this week. The READABILITY of your product content matters a lot. On Target, products with content written at a 7th grade level are more likely to perform better than content written at a college-level. Profitero was able to determine this using our Boost #datascience models which analyze and prioritize the PDP factors that most impact sales lift. The model assesses content using Flesch–Kincaid readability tests, which are readability tests designed to indicate how difficult a passage in English is to understand. (If you have used the Hemingway app, you know what I mean) The point is: How we define content effectiveness on the #digtalshelf must change. It used to be about compliance ("is the content meeting retailer requirements"). Now it's about "effectiveness ("is the content meeting the shopper needs and is it arousing emotions?) 😀 😉 🤗 🤔 To understand this, #ecommerce and #marketing teams need new tools. Tools to: ⚫ Prioritize what aspects of the PDP really matter for your category and retailers, so you don't waste time ⚫ Prioritize what keywords "guests" are actually searching for on Target for your categories vs using #Amazon as a proxy ⚫ Test the heck out of your copy and images (Vizit) ⚫ #ai -generate optimized copy & images using all the insights from above One client of ours is using their PDP as the creative brief brand teams use for directing all #digital and brick & mortar asset creation for new products.
