Our work is informing US and wider foreign policy engagement with the Taliban! Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has just released an essay on the Taliban Drugs ban that reiterates David Mansfield & Alcis Geo's unique insights and reporting over recent years, including from our last update (https://lnkd.in/eWfTWV5u), notably that the drugs ban is increasingly fragile and maintaining it runs the risk of further unrest in Afghanistan. SIGAR was established by US Congress to provide independent and objective oversight of Afghanistan reconstruction projects and activities, and who reports to US Congress and the US Secretaries of State and Defense. Given the significance of the requirement for the highest standards of reporting and analysis, SIGAR reports are read globally and serve as an important reference for those with an interest in Afghanistan. We are so proud that our research is being used to inform not only polices and programmes for Afghanistan at the highest level in the US Government but as well for other Afghan stakeholders too!
