🚀 Introducing the Asclepius Initiative! 🚀 In March 2024 we were excited to announce the launch of Asclepius, a pan-European initiative aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of medication management in hospitals. Our mission is to drive change through expert knowledge sharing, standardization, and best practices to make hospital pharmacy automation safer, more efficient, and cost-effective. 🌟 What to Expect? Starting this month, November 2024, we will release several publications on critical topics developed by our expert sub-groups. These papers will serve as a toolbox for hospital pharmacists to plan and implement their Closed-Loop Medication Management (CLMM) projects. 📄💡 Stay tuned for our publication, “Accelerating Digital Transformation of Medication Management in European Hospitals”, and join the conversation on transforming hospital medication processes for the better! 💊 − Tinna Ægisdóttir − Louis Bertin − Etienne COUSEIN − Francine de Stoppelaar − Arnthrudur Jonsdottir − Martin Hug − Patrick Koch − Harald Langaas − Mattias Paulsson − Andre RIEUTORD − Patrick van Oirschot − Koen van Rhee − Sandrine Wustefeld #DigitalTransformation #CLMM #PharmacyAutomation #MedicationSafety #AsclepiusInitiative #HealthcareTransformation

Project Asclepius reposted this
Asclepius reason for existence: Hospital medication touches each and every one of us, both as caregivers and patients, with a potential significant impact on our health, hospital journey and experience. Additionally, medication is one of the major cost contributors in healthcare. However, medication management processes in hospitals across Europe are still mostly based on manual operations and analogue information, consequently inefficient, costly and generating a significant number of Adverse Drug Events. It should not be this way! State of the art technologies and innovative solutions are readily available. However, their adoption is still limited, partly due to highly fragmented practices and workflows, resulting in significantly complex, costly and risky infrastructure needs & projects. The Asclepius Team, founded by Francine De Stoppelaar, Patrick Koch and Patrick van Oirschot is here to join forces and make an impact, to drive change and accelerate the transformation needed. Join us in building the future!

The Asclepius Mission: Contribute to the development and adoption of Safe, Secure, Innovative and Efficient ways to Acquire, Prepare, Deliver, Store and Administer Personalised Medication Therapies to Hospitalised Patients across Europe. The Asclepius Goals: The current situation needs changing, for the benefit of our patients, our employees, the tax payer and the sustainability of national healthcare budgets. Therefore, to facilitate and promote the long overdue digital transformation of medication management in hospitals, a small group of Industry Experts & Hospital pharmacists have taken the initiative to form a pan-European Team of visionary Hospital Healthcare Experts, experienced in Pharmacy Automation and Digital Transformation of Medicines Management in hospitals. The goals of the Asclepius team will be to contribute to a faster and safe adoption by: 1. Providing expertise & experience, and sharing knowledge, to support peers in developing an automation project; 2. Developing harmonised methodologies and tools to facilitate transformation projects, based on their own experience and expertise, and share these with peers and colleagues. These could be used in planning projects, preparing tenders, and implementing these advanced digital and automated workflows. 3. Developing and promoting pan-European harmonised medicines management practices and standardised workflows for both hospitals and industry as a way to foster adoption, as well as reducing customization, complexity, risks and costs. 4. In addition to the topics related to technologies, the goal of the team will also be to support hospital pharmacists to develop the specific business, change management and professional skills required to successfully develop and lead transformation projects.
