Running to BEAT pancreatic cancer.

About us

Pancreatic cancer has one of the highest mortality rates of all cancers -- the 3rd highest in the U.S. -- yet it receives the least funding of all the top ten cancers. We envision a world without pancreatic cancer. To that end, Project Purple participates in a variety of events and campaigns to raise funds for our two main programs: research into early detection methods and a cure, and providing financial aid to pancreatic cancer patients currently struggling with the burden or medical and living expenses. "My father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008. After a year of treatments we thought he had cleared the woods, but it reared its ugly head again, and on September 5th 2011, my dad died. I started Project Purple in an effort to help raise awareness for this horrible disease in the hope that our contribution will help researchers find a cure." - Dino Verrelli, Founder & CEO of Project Purple

In a delicious effort to fight pancreatic cancer, we visited New Haven, the nation's pizza capital. Our Founder and CEO, Dino Verrelli, was joined by Kevin Spies, Aka Grill Guy, and Colin Caplan, from Taste of New Haven! We enjoyed a slice at Modern Apizza while raising awareness and funds for this important cause. Thank you for following along with us as we celebrated our Connecticut and Italian roots with a slice of New Haven culture! Happy Labor Day or as we like to say the official start of Project Purple! Back in 2010 at the New Haven Road Race our first-ever endurance team made their miles matter all for a world without pancreatic cancer. It's powerful to see how far we have come since then and all the support, funds, and awareness raised along the way!

Meet Jaclyn Lin of Northern New Jersey. At 35, she was expecting her second daughter. However, she began experiencing extreme back pains and abdominal discomfort at around week 20 of her pregnancy. Jackie advocated for herself and, after discussions with her doctors, decided to undergo the necessary scans and a biopsy revealed a mass on the tail end of her pancreas. Doctors decided that Jackie needed to deliver her baby prematurely to proceed with the biopsy of the pancreatic mass. Her daughter was born on August 21st, 2023, and had to be admitted to the NICU. A week later, Jackie received her diagnosis and began treatment on September 3rd, 2023. Listen to episode 298 of the Project Purple Podcast as Jackie reflects on the immense pressure and challenge of balancing chemotherapy and fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer while caring for a newborn and a toddler at home. Bradley Paul was a lacrosse coach in Manchester, Connecticut who tragically passed away after battling pancreatic cancer. In 2019, he was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) at the young age of 25. Throughout his fight with the disease, Bradley returned to his former high school to assist with coaching the lacrosse team. Recalling his time as a player on the team during high school, he emphasized the importance of having an outlet. Lacrosse had provided him with comfort and had helped him overcome mental health challenges in his adolescence. Bradley was determined to give the same support to young players: https://lnkd.in/e2W5YP_h

On November 21st, World Pancreatic Cancer Day, we will host our Cold Plunge for Pancreatic Cancer event at our home office! We've partnered with Lauren and the Ice Cold Club for this event. They'll lead an educational session on the advantages of cold plunging, followed by breathing exercises to relax and prepare us for the plunge.
