This past month, we had the privilege of supporting our friends Tidey in Guatemala to help build a unique river barrier designed to capture large amounts of flowing plastic before it reaches our oceans. This barrier was hand built to be strong enough to stay in place, yet lightweight enough to be portable and float - this way marine can move/swim naturally below, while the plastic stays on top! It also significantly improves the speed and efficiency of our joint plastic collection efforts 10x! We hope this sparks inspiration to create something meaningful and impactful today! ✨🌎

We’re excited to announce our official collaboration with Tidey; an organization committed to tackling ocean plastic pollution on the coast of Guatemala! 🌊 Why Guatemala?📍 Fun(not so fun) fact: Guatemala is one of the largest hubs of ocean plastic in the world, with an incredible portion of global ocean plastic pollution flowing through rivers and natural tide routes straight to its coast. Captains For Clean Water works to protect Florida's coastlines by empowering local ocean ambassadors and raising awareness about the critical issues affecting the state’s water quality. In response to the recent devastation from Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, they are taking action to support to local captains and guides impacted by the storms. Last week our team had the incredible opportunity to partner with Four Seasons Resorts Lanai, Hawaii for a beach cleanup at the beautiful Kaiolohia Beach! With the support of 59 amazing volunteers, we collected over 350+ LBS of trash, filling 2 large trucks! ✨🧤 For us, this experience reinforced the vital importance of local partnerships in driving meaningful change for communities. By uniting with like-minded partners and passionate individuals, we can organize impactful initiatives (like beach cleanups & ocean conservation projects) - that resonate deeply within our communities. This past weekend, we teamed up with our amazing partners at The Surfrider Foundation Maui, MOC Marine Institute, and the Pacific Whale Foundation for a successful beach clean-up at Ma'alaea Harbor! 🌊 Together with our incredible volunteers, we removed over 30+ bags of trash, helping to restore the natural beauty of this vibrant part of Maui’s coastline. With the summer bringing increased boat traffic, visitors, and new businesses to this area, it felt great to give it some extra care and attention.
