Play. Connect. Heal

About us

Project Sunshine’s mission is to deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs through trained and dedicated volunteers. For over 20 years, Project Sunshine volunteers have brought joy and play directly to pediatric patients through our network of medical facility and nonprofit partners across the country. Over 18,000 trained volunteers deliver programs that provide opportunities for creative expression, socialization, intellectual stimulation, and sensory integration to more than 175,000 pediatric patients and families each year. Our unique volunteer engagement model allows community groups, colleges, and corporations to create moments of connection with pediatric patients, caregivers, and families providing child and family-centered, play-based programming. Project Sunshine partners with 475 medical facilities across the U.S. and in four international locations.

The Georgia Tech College Chapter joined Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's (CHOA) Cardiology Support Group for a Here to Play event that brought inpatient and outpatient cardiology families together for dinner and connection.   During dinner, Project Sunshine volunteers organized an activity station with customizable fabric totes, pencil cases, model magic, and velvet stickers for 65 children and families. The families enjoyed it so much that the CHOA team eagerly invited the volunteers to partner again with the support group! 👏

Project Sunshine team members were in multiple cities this month to share about our work. 🌎   Our Pediatric team attended the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Conference in Minneapolis to connect with hospital leaders from all across the country.   The Corporate team attended the Michaels Field Leadership Meeting in Texas to connect with district managers about our volunteer offerings.   We're looking forward to building upon the connections made at these events! 🚀

Nine-year-old Kaylie was admitted to NYU Langone about five times this year after recently being diagnosed with epilepsy. Kaylie, who is also autistic and nonverbal, was feeling bored during her last visit. Luckily, she soon received a Project Sunshine basketball-themed activity kit. She couldn't stop laughing while coloring her hoop and signing to her mom. Stephanie was touched to see her daughter brighten up and smile, especially since Kaylie is often connected to EKGs which can be uncomfortable. The markers, basketball hoop, and mini basketball in the kit brought joy to Kaylie and her mom during a difficult time, and we're grateful to have been a part of that. 🌞🖍

A few weeks ago, we celebrated West Monroe's 9th annual Day of Service. On this special day and one of my favorites of the year, our employees closed their laptops to dedicate their time and talents to local communities worldwide. I had the privilege of volunteering with Project Sunshine. I firmly believe that a shared commitment to service creates a stronger community and sense of purpose. It's essential for this spirit of service to be deeply embedded in a company's culture, from leadership to every team member. At West Monroe, the commitment to giving back has been a cornerstone of our values since day one.

Last week, Arch Insurance Group Inc. employees partnered with us to throw a Carnival-themed party for 100 children and families at Elmhurst Hospital! The day was filled with fun games like skee-ball and inflatable bowling, along with crafts like slime and sand art. Our families had an amazing time and we're thankful for the amazing volunteers who helped bring sunshine to patients that day. 🎡   If your team is interested in throwing a similar event, fill out the Corporate Inquiry Form here https://lnkd.in/e_SbwMUG.
