    I recently heard a news report claiming salaries are dropping because companies think candidates are desperate. Do you think it’s true? In the San Francisco Bay Area, that’s not the case, especially in finance and accounting. If you're considering lowering pay, think twice. Salaries should reflect employees' value, and with living costs still high, offering less can hurt retention. When the market improves, those who accepted lower salaries will leave, costing you more to replace them. The market remains competitive, with candidates still seeing raises and bonuses. Be strategic with compensation, and reach out if we can help! Propel Recruitment LLC

    If you’re actively or quietly exploring new opportunities in finance and accounting, here’s what you need to know:   Q4 is typically the strongest quarter for movement and recruitment. If you’re contemplating a new role, NOW is the time to network and have those important conversations. We’re here to answer any questions and help guide you through the process. For those who started their search back in April or May and haven’t seen much traction yet, don’t get discouraged. Summer can be slow, with key decision-makers out on vacation, but things are about to pick up. Stay the course! Also, keep in mind that not all roles are posted online. Some companies don’t have the bandwidth to post, or they might be running a confidential search, especially for leadership positions. This is where networking and conversations become essential. Keep those connections alive, continue applying to roles, and if you’re not sure where to focus, reach out, we’re here to help. You’ll lock down a great opportunity soon. Propel Recruitment LLC

    As a parent, I'm constantly learning from my child. My son Nico is teaching me a valuable lesson about vulnerability. Watching him navigate new situations, embrace challenges, and be okay with   not being perfect is incredibly inspiring. Recently, Nico joined a competitive lacrosse club. Despite significant improvement, he's not always a starter. Witnessing his ability to accept this, focus on learning, and strive to improve without resentment has been eye-opening. It's a reminder that: Vulnerability is not a weakness; it's a catalyst for growth. Embracing imperfection is essential for learning and development. We don't need to have all the answers; it's okay to be a student of life. As leaders and professionals, we often strive for perfection, but true growth often happens when we step outside our comfort zones and embrace our vulnerabilities. Thank you, Nico, for reminding me of this important lesson. ❤️ Propel Recruitment LLC {Defender in Black}

    If you’re interviewing for a job, you need to stop saying this phrase:   “I'm a quick learner".   It doesn't actually tell the hiring manager anything new.   While it may be true, it doesn't demonstrate your ability to adapt and learn on the job. Instead of relying on this overused phrase, showcase your adaptability through concrete examples: -Highlight past experiences: "While I haven't used this specific software, in my previous role I quickly mastered [similar software] and implemented it successfully within [timeframe]." -Connect the dots: "Although I don't have direct experience with [skill], I'm confident in my ability to learn quickly, as demonstrated by my track record of [relevant accomplishment]." -Show initiative: "I'm eager to learn new tools and technologies, and I'm already exploring [training/resources] to expand my skillset in this area." By providing specific examples and demonstrating a proactive attitude, you'll prove your ability to learn and grow in the role. Remember, actions speak louder than words! Propel Recruitment LLC

    When asked about your reasons for leaving a job, "growth" can be a buzzword that raises more questions than answers. Instead of using this vague term, paint a clear picture of what growth means to YOU:     -Describe your current role: Are you seeking more challenging projects or less routine tasks? -Explain your ideal environment: Do you thrive in fast-paced environments or prefer a collaborative team setting? -Be specific about your goals: Are you looking for a promotion, a chance to lead, or a different type of work altogether? By defining "growth" in your own words, you'll help potential employers understand your motivations and determine if the opportunity is a good fit for both of you. Propel Recruitment LLC

    Video interviews are here to stay, so let's make them work! Here's some feedback I consistently hear from both sides:   Candidates: -Avoid reading from the screen. It's distracting! -Practice your answers, prepare examples, and engage with the interviewer through eye contact.   Hiring Managers: -Show you're fully invested. Turn off distractions, be present, and sell your organization. Candidates notice when you're not engaged. Remember, a successful video interview is a two-way street. Let's elevate the experience for everyone! Propel Recruitment LLC

    A recent conversation reminded me of a common misconception: that recruiters just scratch the surface relating to candidates and roles. Not true!   At Propel Recruitment LLC, our value goes beyond matching resumes. We're partners who deeply understand candidate motivations, technical skills, and company cultures. We dig deep to ensure the right fit for both sides. So, if you've ever felt like an external recruiter wasn't fully invested, push back! Demand more. You deserve a partnership that delivers real value.

    If you are on an interview panel....listen up! Video interviews are a staple in today's hiring process, but they come with their own set of challenges. Here's what I've learned from working with countless hiring managers: Maximize Your Impact: -Be Present and Engaged: Avoid distractions, multi-tasking, or checking emails during the interview. Show genuine interest in the candidate. -Minimize Interruptions: Put your phone on silent, close your door, and let others know you're in an interview. -Sell Your Organization: This is your prime opportunity to showcase your company culture, values, and what makes your team unique. Highlight the exciting aspects of the role and career growth opportunities. By following these tips, you'll create a positive and memorable interview experience that will leave a lasting impression on top talent. Propel Recruitment LLC
