One of the top reasons candidates and companies are deciding not to move forward after interviews is because they’re not "feeling" the genuine interest of the other party. Too often, we hear feedback like,
"I'm going to pass because they didn’t seem interested."
Candidates want to feel valued for what they bring to the table. They want to know the company sees them as a person, not just a resume.
And companies? They want candidates who show they’re committed, engaged, and ready to dive into the business.
If you’re in an interview and not "feeling it", whether you're the company or the candidate, just call it and inquire. Don’t drag it out for the sake of politeness.
If your excitement level is a 7 or lower, it’s time to rethink if this is the right fit.
But if you are interested, don’t assume it’s implied. State it. Bring energy into the room.
Don’t leave the other side wondering if you're into it, because I promise, people are passing on great fits because they’re not getting the enthusiasm they expect.
Next time you’re in the interview process, ask yourself: Am I showing up with genuine interest and engagement? It’s a simple step that makes all the difference.
