The Illinois Restaurant Association ProStart Program and Kendall Student volunteers helped rescue food from the Democratic National Convention at OVG's McCormick kitchen earlier this August. 👩🍳 Alongside Fight2Feed and Doug Bradley of Bradley Works, the students took inventory, sorted, weighed, composted, created a menu, prepped, cooked, and distributed meals to local shelters and pantries. They even delivered treats to the 19th District Police Station, supporting officers working overtime to protect Chicago and its 50,000 visitors.

Summer break is a great time to get some real-world experience for our ProStart students! 👩🍳 Charli from Bonita High School Culinary completed her senior project hours by staging at various restaurants to get some hands-on work experience over her summer break. Charli had the opportunity to stage with the teams at Knife Pleat, Camphorla, State Bird Provisions, and Gary Danko this summer. The guidance, mentorship, networking, and practical experience that these kitchens provided for this ProStart student is invaluable. Building up student's networks and giving them that real-world experience paves the way to success in the industry. 🙌 📸: bhs_prostart2023 (IG)
