Hiring is tough, but retention can be tougher! Learn how company culture, professional development and incentives can help you keep team members on board.
For today's Fertile Ground Friday, we're sharing the free recording of our third session, "Love 'Em or Lose 'Em: How to Retain and Develop Your Team," sponsored by Proven Winners. Just because an employee was successfully hired and onboarded doesn’t guarantee tenure or long-term satisfaction with your company. Tina Lee from DeWaynes LLC and Karen Van Duyvendyk from Dutch Growers Home & Garden discussed how positive efforts in professional development, incentives and company culture can lead to improved employee retention and increases in productivity, performance and morale. The big reveal is here! The 2025 Certified T-shirt is pretty with a purpose, showcasing our pollinator friends in the garden. Designed by Deloris Rose from World Outdoor Emporium West in Missouri, it's a reflection of the garden ecosystem. "Pollinators are the buzz with everyone," she says. "More and more customers are asking for plants beneficial to our pollinators and the ecosystem." But since bees can make customers nervous, she wanted to show them visiting their favorite flowers in the garden center, where they're always peacefully buzzing out of the way to make room for staff to water or trim. "The bees understand we are there for their benefit as much as they are here for us" she says. "We're happy to co-exist – a pollinator partnership with Proven Winners."
